2026 CFL Season general thread

Cody is a champion. A winner. A play maker.

I really do wonder how Tre would have developed behind a solid Oline so that he didn’t automatically default to scamper mode. FWIW Cody used to be like that as well. Still is actually but it’s a little more managed these days.

I agree. That OLine was like a beaded curtain at times so to speak. Plus the defense let Tre down as well in the early games. Along with receivers who were dropping some catchable balls. This season Cody Fajardo will have a target he’s got chemistry with. I’m not sure why they didn’t see the need last year to retain receivers Tre Ford was familiar with. Nearly everyone had been let go. So we really didn’t get the opportunity in Edmonton to see Tre Ford develop further. Once he was benched that was it. So as exciting as all these new signings are there is still somewhat of a dark cloud over it for some fans. However, it is a business. If the team starts winning then fans may finally come back. If they don’t then it may not matter much who is QB.

Cody was a good runner in 2019 but he also had a great arm behind a great oline. 2022/23 that all fell apart and it start with the line, not Cody or his throwing ability.

Crazy fact time speaking about the Elkimos O-Line . Edmonton basically has Hamilton’s entire line from three years ago . Well four out of five of them anyways with tackles Bordner and Murray , guard Woodmansey and center Beard . They also now have our former backup QB in Powell as well .

When the Riders Oline turned to crap Cody lost his composure. He looked just like Tre does now. In time he toughened up mentally. That’s my take anyway.

Hamilton picked up a gem in Reid. You will be very happy with your LT this year.

It’s too bad that Cody Fajardo really is an under appreciated QB. It seems organizations are quick to move on from him even if he puts up solid numbers. I hope he will have a great season with our EE. He does bring a lot of intangibles that are helpful to an organization and seems like a great person.

Wish I could be there!

I met Coach kick by complete coincidence at the last Argo game I attended. Adam Guillemette was nice enough to get me and my family into the friends and family suite and I just so happened to sit beside Coach Kick.

He heard me talking about the specialists to my girlfriend and introduced himself.

I spent the next 3 hours picking his brain about the CFL specialist landscape. He was such a nice guy. He even offered to let me come to their specialist training sessions and was interested in having me handle social media for them once I told him what I do online

It’s a shame I never got to speak to him again. The specialist world lost a great one. RIP Coach Kick :folded_hands:

Congrats to the Bombers on their $12m profit! More than enough for a couple happy meals.

Reinvesting $8m into the stadium. Good idea. Important to stay out in front and make improvements. So where does the balance go? In the bank or are there still payments being made on the stadium? Was that loan forgiven?

I don’t believe the annual budget is made available for people to see, but you could probably compare 2024 to 2025 to see where they have spent their extra revenue.

Since this is a public owned team, their annual reports have to made public. If you are so inclined to know about the long term debt, it looks like there is about $500K remaining, paid out in $100K increments until 2031.

That is impressive since quite a few doubted that they would ever be able to pay it off.
