CFL Forum Update

Hello everyone. This is a quick housekeeping post to get everyone on the same page now that we’re winding down from the holidays.

As you all know, the CFL forums were shut down with basically no notice. A bunch of us scrambled to make sure the community didn’t just disappear overnight, and GG jumped on it immediately and got this new site up and running.

Huge credit to her for that. This place exists because she acted quickly.

A couple of notes that the forum staff wanted to pass along;

1) This Forum is Independent

This site is not affiliated with the CFL anymore. We’re just CFL fans keeping the community going and trying to provide a similar experience to what we had on the old site.

2) Staff / Roles Moving Forward

We’re going to try to keep things simple.

Administrators will handle the technical/admin side of things, such as hosting, email services, plugins, themes, etc.

Moderators will handle day-to-day happenings on the forum such as flags, obvious trolling, keeping threads from going off the rails, and making sure the Code of Conduct is followed.

3) Code of Conduct / Policies

If you haven’t seen them already, take a minute to read through the main pages;

The big things are pretty simple. Treat people like adults, don’t be a troll, and don’t bring hateful or bigoted stuff here.

If something gets out of hand or you see something that violates the CoC, flag it and move on. The moderators will handle it.

4) Quick Note on Costs

Running the forum isn’t free. There are monthly costs for hosting and email services to keep everything online. A few of us on the forum staff are covering that for the foreseeable future so we don’t have to go down the road of ads, paywalls, or anything like that. If the costs ever increase materially we may have to revisit these ideas.

We’re not asking anything from the membership at this time. Just mentioning it so people understand this is community-run and that we’re doing our best to keep it stable long-term.

5) Retiring Moderators

Jon and RedandWhite are no longer part of the forum staff. We appreciate everything they did on the old forum, and we wish them the best.

That’s basically it. We appreciate everyone who made the jump over here, and we’re looking forward to the 2026 CFL season!

Not quite the same without them around.

I just want to thank “Admin” for stating outright in the Privacy Policy that she is not selling our info as a side hustle.

lol yea that privacy policy is pretty boiler plate.

I didn’t realize Jon had actually left the forum.

The last time I looked he is still listed as an active member . He’s just not listed as a mod anymore . As for Red I hear he is still waiting induction into the Mod HOF where he’ll go up on the ‘‘Flag Wall of Fame’ and also have his avatar officially retired .

The unanswered question is whether they left or were asked to leave.

cant imagine the latter??

Thank you to the moderators for all that you do.

So, uh, when is Jon’s retirement party? After the Super Bowl?

I do hope of course that he’ll be back for the 2026 CFL Forum Masters, as of course will also site friend and CBS broadcasting legend, Jim Nantz, and of course site friend and tournament ally, Mr. Beaver.

I haven’t seen his posts in a few weeks. He’s a pretty prolific poster, so for him to just go AWOL seems unusual.

Hopefully everything is OK with him and he’s just taking a break from the Forum.

Just to clear it up, nobody has been banned or asked to leave the forum. Jon and Red are both welcome here as regular members anytime.

Ads are pretty annoying. I wouldn’t doubt if most of us would rather chip in a couple of bucks every once in a while on some crowdfunding platform like Patreon or GoFundMe.

The Forum staff already donate enough of their time to keep this all running. No reason for them to fund all of it as well. Everybody should contribute in some way.

what kind of personal info does one have to give to these payment platforms. If it wasnt for that concern I would love to anti up. Now if someone set up a postal box that I could send a money order to….

I pass up many things I see that I want to get because of how reluctant I am to give personal banking and other info on line

I think e-transfers would be the way to go… I’d be in for that.

I’m amazed that no one has suggested envelopes at select stadium drop off points yet. It’s already well established.

if any of you have been to https://3downnation.com lately you will see why we don’t want ads. unfortunately, they pretty much wreck the site IMO..

Yup . Especially if you have an Adblocker . Also there is a lot of sites now more than ever that are behind a paywall that are inaccessible . Sooo annoying to say the least .
