Why is there a gif option but it doesn’t allow you to embed media items in a post?

what media are you trying to “embed”?
GIF via the search GIF option. I tried it in the Cats forum and the message came up it did not allow media items to be embedded. Tried on this page and it worked. 
Oh well, maybe it was Jobu jinxing me.
