Weird how the author’s opinion differs from those in the know.
Montreal had both Dukes and Patterson for a midseason look-see, and chose to keep Patterson, releasing Dukes.
Yet the author ranks Dukes at #8 and Patterson #12.
Go figure.
In the Podcast he did say he spoke to 6 player personnel types around the league. We had Patterson for QB sneaks only, so I’m not sure that means he is better than Dukes, only that we needed him for a defined job. But both is and Didwiddie gave up on Dukes, so that certainly says something. I thought he looked like he could develop into something but gotta trust Maas/Cavillo and Dinwiddie. He also has been on the market for a while now, so that says a ton.
Powell could make a lot of sense
He was develop by Milanovich who is in the same coaching three then Maas/Calvillo, have some experience and have some untapped potential
If I am a young FA QB I am looking at where am I mostly likely to play. I would say Winnipeg would be at the top of that list as Collaros is both old and gets injured. Same for Sask and maybe Montreal, depending on if DA is actually fully recovered or not. Hamilton also a safe bet as BLM is year to year now.
Yes, although BLM did not miss a game last year. I would say Ottawa instead. Brown hasn’t exactly been a paragon of health.
Edit: If people didn’t like Cody for being a game manager, they are not going to like Powell at all. lol
While there are still top potential free agents with each team, Ottawa, Hamilton and Saskatchewan,by far, have the most. Some of these players include:
Ottawa:
Dustin Crum QB
Devonte Dedmon WR/WR
Frankie Griffin LB
Justin Hardy WR
Richie Leone P
Jovan Santo-Knox LB
Hamilton:
DaShan Amos DB
Greg Bell RB
Jonatan Moxey DB
Brandon O’Leary Orange WR N
Taylor Powell QB
Tim White WR
SaskaTCHEWAn
Mario Alford WR/WR
A.J. Allen LB N
Shan Bane Jr, WR
Jacob Branner OL
Malik Carney DL
Keeshan Johnson WR
Jake Maier QB
Tommy Nield WR N
A.J. Ouellette RB
Shane Ray DL
C.J. Reavis DB Joe Robustelli WR
Mike Rose DL
With the Alouettes there are Marc-Antoine Dequoy, which I maintain will be re-signed, and Charleston Rambo. If Danny does not re-sign him, I expect that he will be signed by either Toronto or Ottawa.

If they are self-aware they might also look for where they can best develop
Avec une solide équipe et des entraîneurs très compétents, les Alouettes offrent un environnement gagnant et d’expérience.
We don’t have our coaching staff in place yet, at least not officially. Apart from having to replace Quick and LBJ, no coordinator or position coach was under contract except Thorpe, I think? (could be wrong there.) Until that coaching staff is finalized, it will be hard to offer mentorship and stability to any QB2. That may be what is holding up our decision-making for that position in particular.
From that list, I don’t think they wouldn’t necessarily be mutually exclusive. Collaros, Harris, BLM would all be good mentors.
I was thinking more of coaching staffs and systems that fit their skillset.
An article on how the Argos are building their player personnel dept. I believe hiring Barker was a smart move.
An article on how the Redblacks expect to replace Pickett, as well as their free agent situation including Crum.
It sounds as if Crum wants to go to a place where he has the best chance to be a starter. There are not many places, if any though.
Un autre agent libre potentiel qui est libéré à l’amiable.
3rd most targets, 6th most receptions in the CFL last season … will Lawler and BLM be able to be as effective without White?
White was 5th in hard money and 3rd in max money, but he performed up to that level (only 18 fewer targets and 2 fewer receptions than #1/#1 Lawler) … Is his agent being over-aggressive? … Is Hamilton being cheap or planning to re-allocate their salary structure? … Does White’s agent “believe” (i.e., know) there is a bigger offer awaiting.
Would seem to be a good shorter-term add for any team if the money works
White will not be out of work long. Guys who post four consecutive 1000-yard seasons don’t grow on trees.
White could sign in Toronto or Calgary.
