I doubt it, given that we have already signed Dedmon.
Il n’est pas très actif à date sur les nouvelles signatures.
Le remplacement de A. Mack m’inquiète…et celui de C. Rambo également mais à un degré moindre.
Brissett to Calgary, dammit.
A mon avis, les Als ne cherchent pas un deuxième receveur partant CDN. En conséquence, je crois qu’ils considèrent qu’avec Oladego, Harris et Gaillardez, un de ceux-là sera considéré comme le substitut de Philpot.
As you pointed out, Dedmond is not the most durable player … I could see DM signing him knowing Letcher wouldn’t come back (or wouldn’t be offered a deal to come back?) simply to secure the talent, not knowing whether or not someone like Alford would sign in Montreal.
I do think we need at least Canadian depth behind Philpot and I don’t see think we have it on our roster. O’Leary Orange would be a good fit and would add size, something we could use. I know we have ratio flexibility, but our receiving corps is not scaring anyone at this point. I’d say I am quite disappointed and baffled by what we are doing at that position.
Remember, if we dress nine or ten Canadian starters, we don’t have to back up Philpot with a Canadian. But I share your disappointment at our approach to receiver. It feels doubly weird given that our offence has struggled the past few years and we have a young QB1 who needs weapons to be productive.
Think I read over the weekend that they announced that TC would be an open competition for placekicker
If not Gittens Jr., then O’Leary-Orange.
When he released Mack, I thought it was with a prominent free agent replacement in mind. So far not the case, other than Sterns.
And no news so far on Rambo.
But you can only have one guy as the primary kick returner. So if we were to sign Alford, that gives us two players fighting for the same spot, leaving us with the choice to either cut one after training camp, which wouldn’t be fair to the player, or carry one on the 1-game the whole year, which the PA objects to.
I mean, it could happen. I just don’t see Danny deciding he wants two KR north of 30 on the roster.
*** IF *** Danny were to sign Alford (no prediction he will) I expect he would offer Dedmond the choice to be released or compete in TC … Alford would be signing knowing Dedmond was there so would have to be expecting a TC competition (unless promised otherwise).
I don’t see Sterns as much more than a 5th or 6th receiver. I’m totally puzzled by that move. I’m sure he came cheap, but there is a reason for that!
Any interest in Shemar Bridges out of Hamilton?
Maybe? But he also is small. I’m a big fan of having at least one taller receiver to give your QB a bigger target radius. I feel like we are going like the Canadiens who for decades keep getting small forwards.
If DM does not sign a FA receiver, I certainly hope Philpot will not be injured next season (as he frequently is). After Philpot and Snead, there is quite a fall off of receiver talent. Spieker is ok, but not a number one or two.
I wonder what the plan at receiver is? Is DM hoping for a newbie training camp gem?
La marche est haute entre T. Philpot et les receveurs N actuellement sur l’alignement.
Peu d’expérience et moins rapide que T. Philpot comme receveur éloigné.
Il y a de la place à l’amélioration.
I’m kind of thinking that he has high hopes for some of the rookie receivers.
But we can’t wait for that, we want a big name now!

Un remplaçant de qualité pour ce type de joueur ne se trouve pas d’un claquement de droite.
Du travail pour D. Maciocia …
Bridges is actually listed at 6’-4” and 208 lbs. He hasn’t made a lot of Lawler type contested catches but if moved back to slotback I think he’d be a good possession receiver for someone. Who know, maybe Bridges and Rambo will swap teams when all is said and done.
