Non-Alouettes 2026 Talk

Yeah count me as completely baffled by our FA and depth strategy. It almost looks like there isn’t one. I know Danny doesn’t want to over pay, but there comes a point where you need to do something! As we all know, the season is rarely won in FA, but I think you can do serious damage but not getting what you need. I like the Crum signing, but that is about it. Dedmon is great when he’s healthy, but will he be?

There’s also National Drew Wolitarsky. I’m starting to get desperate.

His game seemed to have fallen off a cliff. Was he injured? He disappeared after Winnipeg.

Edit: remember we don’t have great experiences with former Winnipeg receivers!

He was injured most of last season.

What I remember him from Winnipeg was his ability to find open spaces in zone coverage. And being a musician.

Also just pulled this from the back of my head.

With his football career at a standstill, Wolitarsky got a job waiting tables at Bellecour, a French bistro and bakery in Wayzata, Minn. That’s when his brother reminded him his mother was a Canadian by birth and that his parents met and married while both were living in Montreal.

“I was working at this French restaurant, brushing up on my French just in case,” Wolitarsky said. “It was like, ‘Hey man, it’s too early to hang up the cleats, let’s give Canada a try.’ I was, like, ‘Yeah.’ At first your pride is a little hurt when (the NFL) doesn’t work out. But again, I got my papers and everything worked out.”

Tre Ford said he had no contact with Edmonton in the off-season. They never asked him to restructure his contract. They only reached out to him to let him know that he was being released.

Ford wanted for Hamilton to sign him because the city is close to his hometown. His second and third choices would have been considered BC then Montreal. Problem with those destinations is that in the foreseeable future, he would probably not see the field as much as compared to being the backup for up Bo Levi Mitchell.

Can he be converted to WR? Kidding aside he is likely headed to the Tiger-Cats.

That surprises me a little. I thought he’d resign there. I wonder where he goes? Hamilton?

I think Hamilton. But they had National Veresuk playing MLB, he left for the Colts but can’t see him making them.

So not sure what happens when he returns.

They need OLmen. Maybe he moves there?

Elks ?

Hate that the Argos released McMannis. I don’t understand! Can someone explain why Pinball would speak so highly of him and release him? Was it because they signed Pickett!? I just want some continuity. Wasn’t he also on stage with Chad at some Toronto theatre show?

McManis was a pending free agent and likely wanted to go elsewhere, so the Argos cut him loose early so he could get a headstart on signing with another team. Happening more and more. Hamilton apparently has heavy interest in him.

Gotta love Edmonton. They never asked Ford to restructure his contract, and never spoke to him once directly until a quick phone call right before the release.

Nobody ever said Hervey was good on the human side of the GM role. Same pattern with Lewis. With Ford the writing was on the wall as soon as Cody became QB1. Glad to see DM at least reached out to Ford. He seems to have made the right choice of where to land. BLM only has a season or two left in him.
