Lawes all over Einarson 6-1

8-1 now, should be handshakes after 8 ends. I’ve been really impressed with the Lawes team, also wouldn’t surprise me if Sturmay is the one that Lawes will face in the final.

100% said the same thing to my wife. (Avid curling fan). Wouldn’t shock me to see Einarson lose tomorrow too.

Pretty much so. Getting herself whipped ‘n bombed by LIttle Kaitlyn will no doubt send Einarson into one of her typical funks. She’ll be very, very vulnerable to Sturmay - who isn’t spectacular but doesn’t need to be. A solid 65 to 75% game should suffice as Einarson gets out of sorts far too easily.

9-1.

Crazy how Crocker-Walker just walks on and plays this well.

That’s the thing with Einarsen, if she falls behind early in tomorrows game and has to play catch up, especially if it’s like tonight and she’s trailing 4-0 after the 1st end her mood will change quickly and she will be out of sorts, you can see it on her face and her reactions where most other skips are stone faced.

10-2 final.

Largest margin of victory ever in a 1-2 game.

Not Homan, Not Jones, Not Einarson…..

Lawes. Wow

Can’t remember but I think Homan horse-whipped Einarson by six (6) in last year’s final.

Won’t surprise me if Einarson puts up a better fight vs. the less-experienced Sturmay - but the shell-shocking she received at Kaitlyn Lawes’ hands will prolly signal her demise.

If Einarson falls to Sturmay, don’t be surprised if that team breaks up within a few months. I’d say the two younger front-enders (Birchard & the lead girl) form their own team, with Birchard skipping. Karwacki, Einarson’s fifth player would be a good get at lead. Erin Pincott at 2nd?

On the last Grand Slam Einarson was on a webcast with Slam aficionado John Cullen and she said she was going to retire. She then walked it back casually but it felt like it was on the table for her.

The Brianne Harris thing really messed her up. She said it nearly caused her to walk away from the sport.

At 38 years old I wouldn’t be shocked if she said screw it if she lost. She seems more emotionally fragile now more than ever.

Homan on the other hand, quite the opposite.

Being a mean cuss from the word go, holds Homan in good stead . . . at least on a curling sheet. She’s softened a tad over the years, getting married and having a child will do that to you. But she’s still emotionally resolute - and combined with her incredible shot-making skills, she’s in a world all her own. . . . . . if you don’t acknowledge the existence of Switzerland’s Alina Patz.

Don’t think anyone in this particular Scotties field would give Team Homan much of a test.

It’s weaker than the trials field….

Yep, having Homan unavailable due to Olympic commitments is a lucky break for all the other contestants, this was their chance. I doubt Homan would have had much trouble repeating as Scotties champion, once Jones aged out the competition gap in Canada was Homan and then the next tier. As you say motherhood or whatever it has softened Rachel if ever so slightly, she’s still got that death stare though.

Kudo’s to Einarson in getting back to the finals, i actually thought Sturmay would beat her but she wasn’t as sharp as yesterday, a matter of fact her entire team was off. Einarson got the 3-0 lead and didn’t look back, we’ll see what happens against Lawes, hopefully its a better game than last time.

Schneiman was nails.

Schneimann was a former top Alberta ladies skip. Decided to give it a go with new blood (Sturmay) and a decent front end. If memory serves, at least one of their front end was with Schneimann in prior lives.

So far Einarson’s up 2 zip after the 5th which was blanked when Lawes executed a perfect double take out on her final shot.

All time shot by Einarson to get 1 and send it to an extra.

It was an all time shot… no argument.

And with the last stone in the 11th end, Lawes ALMOST but not quite nudges Team Canada’s shot stone far enough away from the button and gives up the steal.

Kerri Einarson Wins the Scotties for the 5th time! Congrats Team Canada!!!

Have to feel for Lawes. Best team all week, one circus shot away from winning.

She’ll be gutted.
