2026 Elks Talk

Yeh, it was simply the difference between starting Fjardo from the get go from what they did do with Ford.

Usually they find a practice field or practice time and stay out east if they have back to back games on back to back weeks

One after another for a punter like him, he’s probably leaving us again

That’s what I’m thinking too. We could be looking for a new punter. Cody Grace did announce his retirement.

I didn’t think he was coming back from Tampa so I consider last year a bonus.

Wow right on!

I’m not really familiar with how the CFL to NFL pipeline works. Could he go and play this week if needed?

Matt Haack has been pretty hot-and-cold for them this year and I’m not sure Blake Gillikin will be making a return this late into the season.

Punting in the NFL is different. They want a fair catch just inside the 20, not a 65 yard blast to flip field position.

To be fair, he is one of the most directionally sound punters in the CFL.

In 2025, Punters were keeping, on average, 27% of punts inside the 20 yard line. Julien had 15/49 stay inside the 20, which is 31%. The league-leader was Constantinou with 34% and the lowest was Haggerty with 21%.

He was also above average in terms of punts kept inside the 10. Average for the league was 9% of punts. He was sitting at 14%!

Yes, I thought as well this is a very good extension.

Didn’t see that coming. Wow.

Well I think some did see it coming. I’m disappointed for Nyles. He really had a lot of heart and on this team. I don’t think we even got much. Looking at this quickly we just seemed to swap draft picks and his contract. Would have been nice to get a live body so to speak. Maybe he had a bonus coming…and the Redblacks plan to pay it and keep Nyles. I had been thinking Ottawa may be a place that Nyles could end up.

Somebody had to go. The way Mogensen played at the end of the year couldn’t be ignored. Now with Anderson, Brodrique, and Dublanko, we are well stocked in both middle and boundary linebackers.

Waiting to see who the Elk get from the other teams free agents that want to try the market.

Well in fat,e every team will be looking to poach the pantry. It is always interesting when the good teams know they are going to lose some and the teams rebuilding are looking to raid but also keep their jewels intact.

I would be interested in seeing a top receiver added in free agency. Whether or not Ed Hervey sees the need remains to be seen. It really hurt the team last season when most of our receivers were let go. Early on the receivers were dropping catchable balls. As well, the Elks appear to have alienated Tre Ford. So they will need to find a strong back up QB. Cody did go 6-7. Maybe the team will blame Tre Ford for that too! If the team starts poorly or Cody is injured, I doubt Zebrowski or Snyder would be the replacements at this point. So surely they will be looking to fill that in free agency.

I think Ford may be still in the mix, he is under contract and hasn’t be traded or released yet.
