Thanks! I’ve been away in Huatulco and just thought the connection may have been filtering something out. ![]()
Very pleased that Ed Hervey finally bucked up and paid for this type of receiver. We really were missing this last season! Cody Fajardo must be pleased too.
no it’s not you, or even this forum - stupid twitter/x is a pain to deal with and keeping changing their api settings to be more restrictive.
they should be working now, i put a fix in place to use the x/twitter native embeds.
Elks release quarterback Tre Ford
All the best to Tre Ford somewhere else, though I hope it’s not elsewhere in the West.
I will be curious to see where he does sign. I would think now he’s released there will be several teams interested. I wish him all the best too. I’m sad to see him go, but for him it’s likely for the best.
I’m not really sure if anyone WILL sign him?
I know what you’re saying, that he just needs the right coaching, etc
I think nobody will take him on unless it’s for minimal salary and automatic backup role.
I see a lot of teams passing on him. That’s not an unbiased thought by any means.
Wonder who’ll become the #2 QB in Edmonton; will Snyder move up, or will Hervey sign a FA QB?
My opinion is that Snyder would not be ready to move up. Neither is Zebrowski, but I think they probably like him better than Snyder. Perhaps Kilam wants to reunite with Jake Maier. I haven’t seen where the Riders have resigned him. Or maybe Hervey is thinking Powell. Although, I don’t know as they could get him here as it wouldn’t be any different than him sitting behind Bo Levi in Hamilton. Likely the same wherever he goes. I don’t know about Crum. I think he is testing free agency too. It sounds like Dinwoodie may be open to getting him back from a few comments I’ve read.
Out of the 3 Winnipeg makes the most sense, too much depth in Toronto and he’s not gonna replace Alexander anytime soon.
I am glad the Tre Ford drama is over.
I wish him the best in future endeavors.
That doesn’t mean anything. This is all speculation. Read the article. It even says before he starts talking that it’s all complete speculation. He’s just doing it for the sake of making an article.
Exactly. I just took it that there may a team that Tre Ford ends up signing with. Not that it’s going to be one of the teams listed in the article. Speculation or not, I think there will be teams interested in him as a back up. Just my opinion.
Yeah, it’s possible. I’m not saying I’ll be surprised if he signs. I think it’s a matter of how much money are they willing to pay this guy? How much time are they willing to give him before they move on? Are they going to give him $100,000 to be a backup quarterback because he might have potential?
I’m sure he must be aware he’s going to take a big pay and position downgrade. Maybe he will get a tad more than regular back up salary if a team really wants to have him. Maybe not. Perhaps wherever he goes is only a temporary landing spot. If he does well and works his way back up and learns the leadership aspect, it’s possible he rebuilds his career and moves up to a starter when some of the aging QB’s retire. There are other QB’s who have bounced around the league a bit before finding their way.
There should be interest for him somewhere.
He is not poor QB, he did have a bad team in front of him most of the time ever played. But yea there was certainly signs he was not progressing as planned when the team in front was improving.
Well this will be his 5th season and in order to be capable of starting in this league and be consistent you have make big improvements, to be at the level of Harris, Rourke, Mitchell and Fajardo you have to know how to read defenses and know when to make those choices that can win or lose you the game.
Ford did well at the beginning of his career because defenses didn’t know how to properly defend him, and like everything in sports once one team figures it out, other teams see the footage and implement the strategy. Soon enough what once worked well has become harmless (like bacteria and medication).
His issue is that once you took away his running the rest was not very effective, the Elks coaching staff didn’t really teach him well on using all those skills to his advantage. Probably didn’t help that there was new staff, which effectively killed his future with the Elks.
His only chance is if he goes to a team that has a qualified coach who really knows how to educate QBs and a vet who can take him under his wing, it will likely take 2-3 seasons to get to where he really needs to be.
I have stated numerous times the two best places for him to go are Montreal and Calgary. Calvillo would be the best person to teach him the ropes and intricacies, Dickenson in Cgy could also show him how to really improve. If he can’t improve with those two, he doesn’t deserve to be in the CFL.
Fair enough. I guess we will eventually see what happens. There are some good places for him to further develop.
I was listening to Ed Hervey on the Jason Gregor podcast. It may be possible that Cole Snyder moves to #2 with the EE. I’m hoping though that they bring in a more experienced back up. If Cody Fajardo gets hurt it could be long season if we need to go with Snyder and Zebrowski.
