Mack committed to Montreal. Bought a house here, moved his family, lives here all year round. That is part of why he got a longer deal. Last year, his production was affected by stuff beyond his control: DA being injured for most of the year, being used as an essentially a decoy in the offence for long stretches of the season. When given an opportunity and healthy, he produced at a high level.
I would leave him alone and let him re-establish his value this year. I think he will be good value.
For 2026, I would put Mack back in his old office at boundary wideout, the place where he had his breakout season in 2023. If Rambo returns, he can take up the field slot position. If he’s not back, that position goes to Spieker or Hollins or whoever of the new American receivers impresses in camp.
Mack is a guy we want in iso routes as much as possible.
As per 3DownNation numbers, Austin Mack Hard Money was $191,000 in 2025 and it included a $40,000 bonus paid on February 1 and $30,000 in marketing.
As per their numbers for 2026, Hard Money will be $211,000 for Austin Mack, including a $45,000 bonus to be paid on February 1; they don’t provide the numbers in marketing.
We are talking about a $20,000 increase, i.e. + 10.5%.
I definitely don’t see the issues with the bonus payment of $45,000 or the Hard Money of $211,000. Definitely within the approved cap.
Also, consider how the WR cap landscape has shifted since Mack signed his deal. You have a guy like Hatcher in BC making over $300k. You have our own Philpot making top coin. Mack’s deal is more cap-friendly to us the farther we get away from it.
Yep. We all want him to stay healthy and show us the 2023 form. I think he can do it. He certainly wasn’t the only player to battle injuries last year, particularly the injury pertaining to a body part I don’t want to mention again, because I heard it too much in 2025!
What I did notice in 2025: when Mack and DA were both healthy, Mack had his best games of the year.
Week 2 was excellent. So were weeks 19 and 20. In between, he got injured and wasn’t targeted very much but still found ways to make contributions. It’s forgotten now but he made a lot of key catches in certain down and distance situations, even if his stats on a given day weren’t anything eye-popping.
