The weather in Augusta, Georgia has held up all through the tournament this year.
The forecast high for the day is a slightly hot at 31C, even by local standards, but it is also unusually dry with a light breeze.
This means those greens and fairways will be somewhat crusty and bouncy for the rest of the tournament.
Mr. Beaver, and a few of his henchbeavers, do not have to do anything this year.
Mr. Beaver is hanging out like usual to enjoy his free access and drink under one of the three bridges on the course, as his henchbeavers lurk in the woods trying not to gnaw on any trees during play.
But there are two open work orders for tonight after dusk. One is to investigate a clean break-in on the rear deck of the clubhouse near the bar, and the other was an apparently forced break-in into a woodshed last night. /cough, cough
Oh yeah, today’s the day to make up strokes in these practically ideal conditions, which like Scheffler, the best of those who played earlier did as well.
It was the seventh hole-in-one on the sixth hole at the Masters in tournament history, according to CBS. It was also the second ace in Lowry’s career at the tournament: he completed the feat in the final round in 2016 on the famed 16th hole.
…
Rory’s big lead isn’t so big anymore!
Should be a wild final day tomorrow!
…
Rory having a total meltdown
Doubled and single bogeyed the 11th and 12th holes
Cameron Young takes over the lead @ -11
Roy the Boy’s (McIlroy for the great unwashed) goose is cooked. King Kong Kameron (Young) will fire off a 67 or 68 Sunday to win going away. Roy the Boy will continue trying to find the fairways with his outdated GPS. Won’t surprise if Scotty makes a late charge to pull into 2nd - ahead of Rosie and Porky Reed.
Remember, only your remaining designated top 4 picks after Round 2 count now.
For example, for those of you who had Scheffler but who had four others who scored higher than either of them or were higher on the leader board after round two, tough luck now. That’s my situation as well.
Wow did most of us make up strokes today!
The tiebreaker goes to the top golfer in your slate, and then it goes down from there on the Masters Leaderboard for any remaining ties.
Good luck in the final round to all in the running now!
Rory needs a 70 or 71 to position himself for a playoff - and another slam title.
The elephant in the room, always coming out of his shoes, obviously is now Scottie Scheffler - who’s doing a typical Scottie Sunday. If Scottie keeps heating up he could take down both Rory & King Kong Kameron Young. At least I’m sure thats what Jim Nantz of CBS is begging for.
I was reading about McIlroy’s life, and wow! It’s an amazing story of hard work and overcoming obstacles, as well as the support he received from his parents.
So Rory McIlroy is only the fourth to defend his Masters championship, and he’s in the elite company of Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and the last to do it, Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.
The rarity of such a repeat is the ONLY reason I did not choose Rory for my slate, for he was good to me for my green jacket back in 2022, but here we are!
