Right now there are 7 NFL teams without head coaches and a pretty good crop of fired head coaches available to possibly fill those positions. Mike McDaniel, Brian Daboll, Sean McDermott, Jonathan Gannon, Pete Carroll, Brian Callahan and Mike Tomlin… are ready to step in and run another team into the ground (for a fee).
Most recently, the Miami Dolphins decided to hire Jeff Hafley as their new coach, taking over for Mike McDaniel. John Harbaugh agreed to become the next head coach of the New York Giants and replace Brian Daboll. He was the first hiring in this head coaching cycle, but not long after that deal was finalized, news broke that the Atlanta Falcons are hiring Kevin Stefanski to replace Raheem Morris.
Tennessee, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, Arizona, Cleveland and Buffalo are now accepting applications.
So who goes where? Any predictions? Does anyone care?
There were Johnson with the Bears and Coen with the Jaguars as competent new coaches, so I guess we’ll see if there are other up and comers or if they were exceptions.
Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders
There are those two reputable jobs with the Steelers and the Bills, and there are flaming paper bags full of steaming hot thrown at doorsteps for the other three open jobs.
Five jobs have been filled and graded, but I am hardly sold on Robert Saleh in Tennessee, but you know what? Going now with the lowly Saleh, those lame hilljacks deserve all the misery they can get in comparison after they fired a quality coach like Vrabel in 2023, but Vrabel is definitely not looking back there ever again.
Since THAT question has been raised in EVERY off season that the Cardinals have missed the playoffs and their under performing quarterback always survives the controversy… we can safely assume that Kyler Murray has some compromising footage of owner Michael Bidwill doing something naughty.
