That pretty much sidelines the Packers season as well I would say. Good for your team.
I believe Parsons to be the best defensive player in the league, yes better than Myles Garrett. He won’t have as many sacks, but he is faster and more versatile. A linebacker by trade he lines up all over the place including on the line and in the secondary. His mere presence causes nightmares for opposing offences. Every single defensive play Green Bay runs depends on where Parsons is in the scheme. Their coaches will have their work cut out for them to completely overhaul their defensive schemes with him gone.
So this point on the business of the NFL and the NFL media and observation are not revelation since first at hand in 2023, but this is a timely tale.
Notice how five of the top 10 games have the Chiefs playing, outpacing the Cowboys with 3 of the games, including head-to-head in the top-rated regular season NFL game of ALL TIME between them on Thanksgiving Day 2025.
Football came up briefly after we got back from our break for my online course today for training for work. The instructor, who was very good and a very nice lady, stated that she grew up with brothers with interest in football but she NEVER had an interest UNTIL …
Taylor Swift was a fan of the Chiefs and as she was a fan of Taylor Swift, well the rest is history.
Of course as most of us were fans of the Eagles, there was a lot of kidding after that.
She stated that now she does not miss a Chiefs’ game. I don’t know where she’s based, perhaps Ohio, but I do not think it is Kansas City and it’s definitely not Texas or the East Coast.
The draw of the Chiefs via that cheesy love story that the NFL media had fawned over has been unbeatable for ratings, and well the media and the NFL have learned and applied much as to how to draw more female fans, which I see evidenced as well more in the nature of the advertising during NFL games, which is a world away from beer, gambling, and truck ads that dominated until about 15 years ago.
So guys, if you don’t want to make a lady you don’t know well yet angry (or maybe a female relative who is now a sudden football fan), or in business circles antagonize a representative of a company that is an NFL sponsor, don’t say anything about “Taylor Swift and the Bimbettes,” for you might be talking to a fan of the Chiefs too these days!
Flexible scheduling has been at hand for a very long time and kicks in more as we near the end of the NFL season.
One purpose has been for the NFL to reduce the number of meaningless games late on Sunday or at night and to elevate more meaningful matchups later in the season for better TV ratings via national exposure.
The new game time is the game start time for all at the game. The players have to show up several hours earlier and get there long before most fans. It’s been that way all along.
Note that on the final week of play in Week 18, ALL teams play on Sunday.
There often is an anomaly affecting one team. On the plus side it usually rotates, although the NFC South is on a bit of a freebie run at present. It’s not necessarily built into the system like it is in the CFL though and is obviously more pronounced in only a nine team league. It happens in the NHL too to the detriment of the uber powerful Central division. Right now that division contains the top 3 teams in the league.
I’m not a fan of allegedly grouping divisions geographically in any sport and much prefer as balanced a schedule as possible and a straight seeding such as 1-6 in the CFL and 1-16 or at least 1-8 per conference in the NHL and the same for the NFL. I thought the NFL had made a tweak this year where the team with a better record would host a playoff game over say a division winner like Tampa with a poorer record, although that wouldn’t affect qualification, which it should. Maybe I’m wrong on that.
In the NFL the NFC East most often is the best division and gets shafted the most, although not this year. If you look at that division it’s not even based on geography, with the decidedly non eastern Cowboys grouped with the eastern Eagles, Commanders and Giants. So the geography argument is bogus unless those setting up the division have trouble reading maps
As of now, the last two Monday night games schedule can go into the shit-bin. I’ll be at a bar tonight catching some of it there, but otherwise, that’s it.
So for fans, here’s what is coming up starting on Thursday given the playoff implications.
On Christmas Day, not only I am certainly not going to give a crap about any of the games now.
It’s like there is some law now that Dallas and Detroit have to play on holidays?
On Saturday there is another double-header, with the NFL also giving charity to Comcast via the shitty Peacock service again, so off to Pirate Sports Network we go for next Saturday.
Then comes Sunday with the best slate again in all time slots, though as of now I am scheduled for new work but will be home to watch the night game in San Francisco.
Yeah the Thursday schedule is lameroo and there won’t be any Thursday games on this week’s slate although there will be at least one Saturday game. Waiting for the result of tonight’s game to fill out the slate so they will be posted tomorrow.
Courtesy of Old Man Rivers, in this last week we have heard about many revived dreams from almost every “Al Bundy” across the US and okay, I don’t know your equivalent in Canada, but yes, him too.
As many recall and well before my time, Al Bundy starred for Polk High School as a running back to lead his team to victory in the 1966 City Championship of Chicago, Illinois, USA, with high unsung credit to that fierce heavy-gran fed line of “hosses,” one of whom it is told went on to some pro wrestling career to be a local circuit champion as well. Bundy scored the winning touchdown of his four touchdowns on the day.
Well there you have it now USC Dave you darn good galoot @usc4dav , look what you accelerated, and it looks like somebody is beating you to the field, so you best hop to it now for your training to get into a game in these last two weeks, if not to be ready for the CFL:
need to catch up on my game watching this week. I got 23 games from the last 8 weeks that I want to watch. Gotta luv it. Sometimes recent technology aint so bad
