NFL Regular Season 2025-26

As no one has started a carryover thread from the other forum here it is.

On Thursday night, it looked like it was a good game, but I think few cared, especially in December for those Thursday night games. It was a classic meltdown by the better team with the lead.

Play these stupid Thursday night games on Saturdays in December, NFL!

Yes I know, there is a federal law and some tradition today that prevents such Saturday games for the first two weeks due in part to shitty college football games before the College Football Playoff in December, but that’s another thread.

Anyway given the loss by the Bucs, coach Todd Bowles was understandably very angry.

Following a fourth-quarter collapse against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have completely blown their lead atop the NFC South. And after the game, coach Todd Bowles went on an expletive-filled rant detailing his message to the team.

The Buccaneers took a 14-point lead with 13:34 left in the game but allowed the Falcons to score three times in the final 10 minutes to hand Tampa Bay a devastating 29-28 loss. On the game-winning drive, the Bucs defense had a chance to end the game but allowed the Falcons to convert on fourth-and-14 with 49 seconds remaining.

Not that we follow the law much anymore down here.

Aye, this is why I muted those political threads, and it’s bad out there no doubt.

A lot of these youtube videos don’t work on our site. Here’s a link to the same thing but with much lower quality from Reddit:

Upon further review… I’m finding a LOT of references to this punt return by Robert Bailey and it happened in 1994 for Pete’s sake.

Huh.

Why can’t I remember this play?

I don’t remember it either, but it would appear to be legit. Jim Mora was coaching the Saints. It appears likely that they didn’t make the Playoffs! Playoffs! that year.

That’s okay, just don’t fall for one of those stupid branded parlays, one of the most annoying advertising trends of 2025, they may as well get all those suckers to play multiple lottery tickets every day.

I bet there’s one called the Old Man Rivers parlay too.

SCREW YOU KEVIN HART AND LEBRON AND DRAFT KINGS AND SCREW YOU MGM BET TOO!

Weird to think that a couple months ago media and fans alike were calling for Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel to be fired and here it is he has them in the playoff hunt. While it’s still a longshot if you had told me that the Chiefs would be eliminated from playoff contention while the Dolphins are still in it i would have laughed.

Saw this today. The NFC is still wide open, but the AFC playoff teams are mostly set. Like you I thought the Dolphins had a better chance than they do. They are already essentially eliminated with a <1% chance of qualifying.

Yep, too little too late, too much ground to make up at this time of the season.

Right on. And now no chance of preferential celestial alignments, and the like inane banter we hear every season for those with a 2% or less chance or whatever, and the Dolphins are now officially burnt toast.

The AFC playoff picture now is quite simple, even with still three games left to play.

  • Essentially, with the Steelers now leading the AFC North, the Ravens are on the outside looking in so as to try to win the division or bust.
  • The Jagaurs lead the AFC South, with the Texans and the Colts competing for a wild card spot.

These two scenarios are predicated upon none of the other playoff seeds losing out the remaining three games, which is unlikely to happen but has on occasion in years past and would shake things up considerably were one of the lower seeds or those in the hunt to win out.

Otherwise, the AFC now is predominantly the race for the seedings, including the treasured #1 seed for home field advantage.

This week’s power rankings:

And a discussion on the #1 teams in each conference. Unfortunately Detroit now needs a lot of help to make it into the playoffs, but I agree that they are the tgeam most likely to be able to beat the Rams.
