Penguins trade Jarry to Oilers for Skinner, Kulak

Kyle Dumbass trying to start losing so Crosby will want out and Pens can go full Mission McKenna … doubt Kulak stays there long

A bit like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic if you ask me. Jarry comes with baggage and a host of struggles of his own. We’ll see.

Not sure why you named your handle after Winnipeg, but ok.

If you have to name yourselves that ok. No one else is buying it. We’re the slurpee capital of the world and that is indisputable.

Fans shouldn’t expect any UFAs of real value to make it to July 1st for at least the next couple of years, unless the player is unhappy enough to forego the 7th season of their new contract OR their team just doesn’t want them back despite their talent.

Kind of dumb. Skinner is like every goaltender. The better the defence the better the goaltender and Kulak was outstanding last season.

A trade for the sake of a trade if you ask me.

Blockbuster central. And they were calling the Skinner/Jarry trade a blockbuster.

I’m surprised that Vancouver gave up their best player. He wasn’t what was wrong with the team. Smells like panic. Canuck fans can write off this year at least.

They gave up their best player because he was going to leave in a year and a half for nothing. From what i read the Hughes saga was hanging over the team and Rutherford wanted to nip it in the bud which he did. When looking at the results i think the Nucks did very well for themselves, the Wild gave up a boatload. They must really want to get out of the 1st round for a change.

The Skinner for Jarry trade is like switching one flannel shirt for another.

ahh we are so precious when we are young. Seeing fans crying over the loss of Hughes saying that he is the best ever player the Canucks ever had. Best D maybe, but……

Doesnt look like the Canucks are getting a whole lot. I was hoping something to measure up to the 1991 trade that brought them Ronning, Courtnall, and Momesso, or even the March 1994 trade that brought them Hedican, Lafayette, and Jeff Brown. What a team they ended up being.

The fact they go and announce it and all that then go on for months with it hanging there then take almost nothing in return speaks to the incompetence of management.

After the Miller saga you would have thought they learned, but no.

They did get three former 1st round draft picks and one future 1st round pick which i would say is pretty good under the circumstances. The three players are Rossi 24 yrs, Buium 20 yrs and Ohgren 22 yrs, so not a bunch of old vets. It’s at least some good players that Vancouver fans can hope really help in their rebuild and who are under team control for a while.

IMHO

The Canucks did okay with the trade

(All 4 players they received were 1st round picks)

They were in a corner, It was reported Hughes had told canucks brass he wasn’t going to re-sign with them when his contract expires after 2026/27 season

Apparently 5 or 6 teams had made offers on Hughes

You will NEVER win a Quinn Hughes caliber trade when you are forced into a trade

IMHO he will end up in the long run going to the Devils to play with his brothers

Out of the 3 Rossi is so far the only one with some NHL pedigree and is of course the oldest. The other two and the late first round draft pick will be a wait and see proposition. It is hard to win a trade historically when you give up the best player in the trade, but if he did tell them he would not resign after next season the only issue aside from return is timing. At least they got something unlike the Isles for Tavares, the Leafs for Marner and the Jets for Ehlers. Nevertheless I think it is unlikely the Canucks will be stronger as a result of the trade.

they got a decent haul. 4 first round picks is excellent. they are going to tank so they will have 2 first rounders this year, one will be high, likely top 3.
