Islanders hire DeBoer as head coach, fire Roy
Wonder if Islanders wanted to beat the Leafs to signing him.
Yup, that’s what I thought too.
So now that the Leafs are all hotheads after the Mathews debacle, they can hire a hothead coach like Patrick Roy. ![]()
That’s what i think, he wasn’t the GM Darche’s hire in the first place. He also knew that DeBoer would be in high demand in the off season. Its been rumored that TO, Kings, Oilers, Flames etc might be looking for a new coach so Darche just wanted to get ahead of the other teams, smart move.
Elliott Freidman : Did not think Deboer was on Leafs list.
So, McDavid wasn’t the only crybaby at the game?
(okay, I’ll leave now)
Somehow there’s the feeling that the Leafs ‘exhaustive search’ will end with them picking up whoever is left on the market two days before free agency, like they did with Treliving….and call it a strategy.
That’s standard corporate bullshit strategy there whenever companies have their businesses underperform or lose money too, such as recently with all those “investments” in AI and other newer technologies when they fail and then companies have to cut costs, which of course includes laying off employees en masse.

PWHL game in Edmonton tonight. Don’t see a sub for the PWHL so I’m putting it in here. Good hockey. Wrong team scored 5 today but if your city gets one of these “takeover dates”, highly recommend.
comin down to the wire now.
come on Sabres, hang on to your spot
come on Canadiens, past those Lightning
come on Flyers, hold your spot
come on Knights, hold your spot
come on Ducks, pass those Oilers
and for last week miracle, come on Jets, win out. come on Preds and Kings, lose out.
Probably a long shot in both cases but
In the East, I’d like to see the Isles get in instead of the Flyers.
In the West, I’d rather see the Jets instead of the Ducks or Kings.

Ottawa and Edmonton clinched a playoff spot last night
It appears that the Jets playoff chances are down to slim and none
after getting waxed 7-1 by the Flyers last night
Oh hell no!
Oh Hell yes !

The Kings outside of beating the Oilers have such a powderpuff end of season schedule that the Jets should have phoned it in last week.
Kings are a team I cheer for, but not over the Jets
Most teams are like that because they usually schedule Divisional games at the very end because of the playoff seeding implications.
Inevitably, part of your schedule will include the teams that are not playoff bound.
