Has anyone watched a 9-man adult football game before?
I have only ever seen it occasionally at lower peewee levels with kids (they play both 12 and 9-man here in peewee). Now i’m interested in what it looks like with adult players.
I’ve seen clips of it at the high school level. I wouldn’t be surprised if it grows. In the US (maybe Canada, too) rural populations are decreasing and there’s been a generational shift away from football participation as parents are (rightfully) concerned about risks.
Many small communities are consolidating their football programs, just to stay afloat. My friend is the dean at a school of 63 students. In the past 5 years or so, they’ve consolidated their teams twice, meaning three schools have united to field just one team. I think the next logical step would be to drop to fewer players.
Haven’t seen it. Unrelated but I always thought that 10 man football CFL rules would be interesting on an American field. Then the rules changed so I had to keep that thought to myself ![]()
I can totally relate @Tedzan_Lord_of_Lions.
There have been SO MANY TIMES where I’ve had to keep my thoughts to myself.
I could be wrong but isn’t the Arena league 9 man ball ? I believe the usual setup is a QB,2 RB, 3 WR and 3 OL on offence and on defense it’s 3 DL , 3 LB and 3 DB’s .
AND the German Women’s Football League is ALSO known as ‘Nein Man Football’.
some days i just want to send you all malware lol
there is a men’s 9-man league here
Go Bombers!
And you know why the NFLA Bombers are sporting a Stealth Bomber as their logo right?
(Because there can only B1).
First time I heard of nine man football was quite a few years ago. A very good player for Calgary named Lloyd Fairbanks had only played nine man football in high school. I believe he played in the NCAA before coming back to Calgary and the Stampeders. Was an all-star tackle for many years.
In Illinois, it’s 8-man football. A few teams dropped their program this year.
Like a new pot and pan set? I’ll send you my address…
