If you invoke AC in a comparison, it’s a comparison. 
Leaving aside the player-to-player comparison, AC’s route to becoming a starter is an extreme anomaly in this league. He also played in an era where players were coached up a lot less.
No one would get time to become an AC today.

The better exemple is from my NFL team the Seahawks. Sam Darnold had a rough stretch and now he’s an Elite QB
My perception of what a QB does is have all the routes clear in his head pre-snap. With the snap he goes through his progressions and throws to the first WR that has a DB where the QB wants him or expects him. Ford looks like he is reacting to what he see’s without having a firm grasp on what to expect. Based on his ability to play dodge ball he seems more that quick enough to “get it” with someone like AC mentoring him. He could be a very good #2 upgrade even now.

How long is ‘rough stretch’ in this case? It took AC a long time to figure it out. Six years in pro football before he took over as the starter in Montreal in 2000. When he signed with us in 1998, he was down to his last strike.
If the only comparables to Ford are AC and an NFL player, it kind of proves my point about the CFL today.
I would say Ford’s ability to play dodge ball is precisely what’s holding him back. He is so good at escaping the pocket that he does it whenever his first read isn’t there. To a lesser extent, DA has the same issue, except that DA is just a better quarterback, and even when he is flushed out of the pocket, he either looks to create downfield or makes a quick decision to go for the first-down marker. He doesn’t run around in the backfield like he’s in a scene out of Benny Hill.
To me, there is not much separating Ford from Shiltz or Crum or even Caleb Evans at this point except his athleticism and foot speed, which allow him to do things with his feet that other QBs just can’t do. But those are great attributes for a running back, not a quarterback.
We’ll see what happens this year, wherever Ford ends up . Maybe he proves me wrong and settles down to apprentice somewhere and learn the QB craft.

À cause des règles de la CFL, s’il n’est pas un qa partant, il n’est pas considéré comme un joueur N, il a alors le statut de joueur A comme qa #2.

Il a le talent, il lui manque actuellement l’expérience au niveau professionnel.
Présentement il est dans sa phase NFL comme Tre Ford en 2022, choix numéro 8 de première ronde avec Edmonton.
Avant de signer avec les Elks, le 11 mai 2022, il a eu des essais infructueux avec les Ravens et les Giants.
En 2023, il a des essais infructueux avec les Raiders et les Patriots, dans la période prévue à cet effet.
C’est certain que si en 2026, Taylor Elgersma décide de mettre sur pose ses essais dans la NFL, et qu’il est prêt à signer un contrat avec les Blue Bombers, je le prendrais avant Tre Ford.
I agree Ford has all the tools worth investing in with good and patient QB coaching.
But would he consider the Als as the best place for him as a No. 2 QB, with all that the team has invested in Alexander as the long term No. 1? Rather than working behind veteran QBs like Collaros, BLM, or even Adams who he would have a chance to succeed.
Not sure that Ham would be a good fit for him as they have Powell, a strong QB2. BC, Calgary, Winnipeg and Montreal are probably the best landing places for him. The 3down podcast this week talked about, mostly rumours, Ford not putting in the work. Adams could share his experience with that. I say rumours but Chris Jones essentially said the same thing, so it makes you wonder.
Hamilton fans seem to see Powell as a serviceable game manager, but not much more.
Let’s hope those rumours aren’t true. If he’s not committed to putting in the work now, with the way the past few years have gone, he’s not someone I want on my team.
By contrast, look at how hard Davis worked to get to where he is now.
Yeah, Adams had also said he wasn’t putting in the work until I think he said Trevor Harris showed him the way.
So with the right mentorship Ford could also possibly change his study habits.
It would be a good career move to work with AC for a couple years, if his head is in the game..
I haven’t seen nearly enough of him to come to that conclusion.
