what the heck is a “coaching analyst”?

A made up position to circumvent the ops cap perhaps?

hey, my kids are younger than me and I approve of almost everything they do

It’s a position that is filled by a team that has a good feeling their Head coaching hire was a mistake. Once it becomes obviously apparent, after a couple months, then there is an heir to the job that has been with the team throughout the season, and has HC experience as well.

Campbell is only 55 … expect he wants to coach again

Sounds like another chatty coaching bojack to me

the Rouge does not approve of these ops-cap avoidance shenanigans. when is a coach just an analyst or a coach??? plus, she wants the ops-cap destroyed for the sake of the CFL! :right_facing_fist:

also Mark Kilam’s beard > Rick Campbell’s dome so Rick’s got work to do before Kilam should look over his shoulder

The opps cap was invented because the league was pissed about how much money the Riders, led by Jones was spending on opps. Apparently it wasn’t fair that one team started to hire all the best at every support and coaching position. Be careful what you wish for since only two teams are really making money these days.

The EE cannot get off to a slow start again. If they do then perhaps Ed Hervey is willing to pull the plug on Mark Kilam. He’s given him everything to set him up for success now, and if things go awry then it’s less of a disruption to already have someone there who could take over. Plus I think Rick Campbell may have been Ed Hervey’s original second choice for HC when he hired Mark Kilam who must have aced the interview. Rick Campbell did say on a radio interview recently that he would like to get back into a HC position somewhere, but is excited about his new position this season with the EE.

They won’t start slow. Instead of rebuilding they just plugged holes this year. Assuming your Oline is up to snuff that is.

That would be insane lol I love Kilam as a coach. The guy lives and breathes football

I think our OLine ‘should’ be much better this year. Ed Hervey has brought in some new players and made comments that it will be a competition for the starting center spot and as well the two tackle positions.

Well you do have to wonder how long a leash it will be if the EE miss the playoffs again? We were 7-11 last season which was the same result as 2024. Fans may have given some grace last season with a big rebuild, but this season it’s time for better results.

the problem is who in the west are they going to beat out? i can only see them edging out the stamps and maybe bombers. the west division is going to be another war.

Very good point. I think the EE will be better, but so will the other teams!

So what does the second E stand for?

You haven’t said what you thought of your backup qb situation. Better or worse?

I will never be pleased about how our back up QB situation came about, but do feel Taylor Powell is the best back up the EE could have brought in when the decision to move on from Tre Ford was made. Taylor Powell has won some CFL games, but hasn’t had the opportunity to play much. I do not feel he’s a better back up than Tre Ford and he cannot create the kinds of plays that Tre Ford can when used properly. Nor will he be able to score 3 touchdowns coming off a bench in 9 minutes. lol. The EE now have 4 game managing QB’s. I hope Taylor Powell will do well here if he has the opportunity to play. He’s likely the best they could do, but he’s not better than Tre Ford in my opinion.
