Love that Sweden and Italy beat USA and Britain the final two games of mixed doubles curling. No medal for Britain, and only Silver for USA.
Mens Hockey
SWE leads ITA 3-2 end of the 2nd period
SWE Outshooting them 43 - 11
FYI
If you fight in Olympic Hockey
You are thrown out of the game and the entire tournament
I would like to see similar in the NHL
1-0 for Canada and Team Homan with big medal hopes.
Back at it tomorrow at 8am.

So the Russians have 13 athletes participating in the winter olympics but the Ukrainian skeleton member cannot because of his helmet displaying 20 dead Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia in their 4 year invasion of a sovereign country . WTF !!!
Win for Team Jacobs in curling, loss for Rachel Homan to the US (bad loss).
Hopefully just a blip for Homan and not a repeat of 8 years ago brewing
Yep, the Homan team were bad from the top on down, all missed shots. It wasn’t like the US team was playing lights out, they just made the shots they needed to. It will be interesting to see how Homan and her rink respond to this early loss.
Sweden’s men’s curling team Edin accused Team Canada’s Jacob’s of cheating, swear words were exchanged, denials and accusations flying feverishly! All they needed was to drop the brooms and duke it out! The gentlemanly game of curling nearly turned into a hockey game, love it!
Grey area in the rule but I think it’s generally thought in the curling world that was Kennedy did was not legal.
Wow. I wonder what was really said?
Sweden: “Poke the stone eh? There’s no hokey pokey in curling! I have more than a poke for you now buster, you no-good cheat!”
Oh what was said is all over the internet. It got heated.
I agree, by the rule what Kennedy did was illegal, even though it doesn’t seem like much but you’re not to touch the stone, the handle yes but not the stone. That’s how i interpreted it anyway but i’m no curling rules expert, haha.
Looks like Team Homan is going to drop another one this morning to GBR. They’re not playing well at all and officially time to panic.
Indeed Team Homan dropped it 7-6 to GBR and are now 1-2.
Play the #2 ranked Swiss team later today.
IT WILL BE TIME TO PANIC if Switzerland discards Homan later today. Homan is usually such a Grim Reaper on Curling Ice but so far in these games she’s just been grim. Her doubles are usually deadly, this go round she’s missing them by inches - if not more.
Homan seems to be carrying the crushing weight of Olympic representation. She’s visually out of sorts - and her team has no idea what to do. Losing to a curling runt like Sophie Jackson (GBR) is downright embarrassing.
Alina Patz (Suisse) must be licking her chops - knowing she can almost put Homan’s Canadians out of the tourney by frying them later today.
WHAT WAS HE THINKING!!!
Team Canada knows the rules
Shameful, disgraceful show of unsportsmanly conduct
When delivering a stone, before the hog line players can retouch the handle as many times as they wish. However, touching the handle after the hog line is not allowed and will result in the stone being removed from play as per Rule R.5 (e) that states: “A stone must be clearly released from the hand before it reaches the hog line at the delivery end. If the player fails to do so, the stone is immediately removed from play by the delivering team.”
During forward motion, touching the granite of the stone is not allowed. This will result in the stone being removed from play.
As per rule R.5 (d) “The curling stone must be delivered using the handle of the stone.” Violation of this rule, will result in the stone being removed from play.
It is not possible for World Curling to have game umpires positioned to observe all hog lines for every stone delivery. However, beginning with the Saturday (14 February) afternoon session, two officials will move between all four sheets and observe deliveries.

Inappropriate Behaviour
Following the Friday evening session, World Curling spoke with the Canadian officials to issue a verbal warning regarding the language used by a Canadian men’s player during the game.
During that meeting it was made clear to those officials that further inappropriate behaviour, determined by rule R.19, would result in additional sanctions.
Rule R.19 states: “Improper conduct, foul or offensive language, equipment abuse, or wilful damage on the part of any team member is prohibited. Any violation may result in suspension of the offending person(s) by the curling organisation having jurisdiction.”
