Hamilton re-signed their #3 QB from last season (Frost) and on the Ticat forum some speculation that Powell will not be re-signed; any interest in picking him for #2 QB?

J’ai hâte de connaître les prochaines décisions de D. Maciocia,sur plusieurs points d’interrogation:

  • qui remplacera A. Mack et peut-être C. Rambo
  • qui sera le qa #2
  • qui composera le groupe d’entraîneurs 2026
  • quelle sera la finalité du dossier M.A. Dequoy.
  • Etc..

En 2025, les principaux dossiers étaient le choix de D.Alexander comme qa #1 et la question du qa #2 qui s’est réglée avec l’échange C. Fajardo vs M.B.T.

Du 1er au 8er février, nous connaîtrons les joueurs agents libres potentiels que D. Maciocia aura contactés et à partir du 10/02, le début des signatures.

Encore beaucoup de nouvelles à venir….

We saw some of his work in 2023, but his stats below are not that great.

He would be an unknown project, whereas we need a more experienced quality QB. Although that could be tough to find this off-season.

  1. Powell is a game manager. If people disliked Cody for that, Powell won’t be any better.
  2. I can’t see him being interested in Montreal unless he has no other choice. We have a young QB1 who will play every game and every snap barring injury. Powell spent a full year holding a clipboard behind a healthy BLM. He’s not going to want to do the same in Montreal. At this point in his development, he needs live starter reps. I imagine Ottawa would be more attractive to him, given that Brown has trouble staying healthy…

I want someone who can run the system and give the ball to our playmaker. Powell played under Milanovich who have similarly with Maas/Calvillo so I think he could be a logical choice

If you’re playing not to lose, you’re not going to win. Defences will lock down the underneath stuff and make you a checkdown guy until and unless you show that you can beat them over top and make some big-time plays.

In any case, I think it will be moot. I doubt Powell comes here.

We’re closing in on Sunday, when the free agent “communications window” opens at noon. Likely by 3:00 P.M. we will be hearing of players agreeing to deals.
