Bomber News and Discussion 2026

Woodmansey has always been a very good guard, started as a rookie. He got switched to centre last year and had a lot of issues with errant snaps during the season - I was surprised he had such a high ranking because of that. If he can get that under control he would be a good centre for anyone and could also play guard. I don’t think Hamilton is signing him as they got Kolankowski and have Dobson at right guard as well as some other young guys waiting in the wings.

I’m so happy to know there are other fans counting down the days like me :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Ah ha ha but they are also counting down the days to winter too, so take that Cold Weather Todd!

I was a tiny bit surprised Kolankowski was gobbled up so quickly by Hamilton. Yes, he’s a veteran, knowledgeable in his position but in Winnipeg, surrounded by a line of other semi-feeble guys, he was constantly getting roller-skated. Surrounded by some tough guys and bullies (ie. Dobson) he could be more serviceable, delivering accurate snaps, acting more as an obstruction vs. an earth-mover (which he ain’t).

Woodmansey apparently is younger, stronger and more bully-like than Kolankowski so he should be considered by the Manitoba Mafia (perhaps they can get him a snap coach to correct his glaring deficiency). He’s prolly a tad cheaper than Kolankowski, too!

Prior to Argos signing Shepley I thought it was a lock Woodmansey would go to his hometown Argos. Barker may still be interested though and possibly a couple other teams.

Melt Stegall…amazing name for a snow plow.

Just popped into this forum to say that. Cheers!

Very interesting signing. Hope its not going to take away too much from the O-Line search.

White went over 1000 yds for the 4th consecutive season and has played in Condell’s system in Hamilton so they’re familiar with each other, should be an upgrade on Sterns & Mitchell.

Nice signing for your Bombers and a good complement to Ontaria Wilson. Will open some things up for the passing game

With apologies to Greg Ellingson (who did give us the last 5 “good” games of his career at the start of the 2022 season) this is the Bomber’s first signing of a proven, impact-player since Willie Jefferson. It’s been a while.
It’s going to take more than one of these to make a big difference though. Good start, I like it. The #1 need remains a defensive lineman capable of racking up a double digit sack total.

White’s a mixed bag. He can be highlight material one play and ‘burn the witches’ crap the next. Maybe we got a bargain here.

Fingers crossed. :grimacing:

That snow plow so named, akin to a fine newly-launched ship the Milt Stegall, sounds like a great off-season training idea for that Mowing Crew on the high seas, you know.

Felt like the last couple of seasons something was off with him. He still can pour it on and have a few otherworldly games then be invisible for a few and drop some easy passes. Maybe a new team and one year contract will light the fire a bit. Sometimes certain qbs and receivers have chemistry but it didn’t seem to be there between Bo and White.

I clipped this from the Hamilton forum’s free agency thread.

This list is the available 2026 FA defensive lineman.

Who on this list is due for a breakout, 10-sack season?

The names here don’t instill much confidence that such a player is currently available.
Pretty scary that our guy James Vaughters was the 2nd most productive end on the list.

Malik Carney had the best season & is 30 years old. Most of these guys are older.
I think the Bombers need someone heavier than 230 lbs at defensive end.

Agreed. Another Willie Jefferson would be da bomb. Also we can always hope that James Vaughters will show up at training camp with his 259 pound stomach muscle bulge still intact. Somebody get the rest of our DE’s a package of Tim’s doughnuts please.

There’s always the possibility that our US Talent Scout extraordinaire Danny McManus will send us a planeload of talented linemen if Kyle Walters asks him nicely enough. In addition to fearsome DE’s we’re not exactly knee deep in road grading OT’s. We need offensive line help in the worst way.

We could recruit Melt Stegall or Grady Oliveira if we’re really desperate.

Might be a bit of a pipe dream there. Jefferson is a generational talent.

While our O-Line search isn’t over, our search for an earth moving Left Tackle is at an end:
