CFL Discussion Non-Ticat

I just read a screenshot on Facebook that Fajardo is getting 400k plus incentives for 2026.

So they basically offered him the exact same number they were originally planning to pay Ford.

Ford will be released, not traded, as every team now knows that, if they wait, a trade won’t be necessary.

He wouldn’t be the worst backup for Hamilton and he lives in the area in the offseason.

Imagine the Ticats having a true mobile QB. Social media would be worse than it already is.

i could see the redblacks going after ford, the thinking that he just needs a decent qb whisperer like dinwiddie.

Ya I read on X yesterday I think it was Dave Campbell or someone had mentioned he got a 190k signing bonus

Ford? or Fajardo.

Ford is due a bonus next month that Campbell says Ford will never see.

I’m not sure Ford would even be a fit for Milo’s offence. He seems to prefer the pure “pocket passer” type QBs. Hence, Bo and Powell as the number one and two in our QB stable.

I think all that scrambling around that Ford does would give Milo fits.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Some Ottawa fans on Facebook think Dinwiddie will go after Jake Maier and cut Dru Brown.

Brown is due a 150k bonus before February.

He’s not a professional passer. Not sure he’ll last. Athleticism will only get him so far.

Jake Maier ? Really ? One question……Why ?

Because he would cost 250k at most.

Neither Maier nor Brown have ever led me to think of them of quality starters in the CFL.

I agree on Maier. He got a ton of rope in Calgary and obviously didn’t do enough to convince the Stamps to stick with him. Brown, I think, can still be a good starter in the league with the right OC and a decent line in front of him.

He would be a disaster for a team that really needs a solid #1 and a decent back up. If I were a Redblacks fan I would be furious with that move. He is not a quality starter and maybe not even a backup.

Spend the money wisely and improve your team. Unfortunately Burkie has made some terrible moves with big contracts and now their hands are tied.

Edit** This is the time of the year to undo some of those costly mistakes. Burke and his staff must be under the gun to restructure, release and sign some new contracts to bring balance to that team. For the good of the league I hope he can do it.

I think alot of these guys are interchangeable.

Brown, Arbuckle, Maier etc. Probably all look good with decent talent and coaching and look back with the opposite.

That’s kind of every QB though, right? Trevor Harris just got his first Grey Cup ring as a starter and he’s played for over half the teams in the league. He’s definitely had times when he looked not great and washed up.

I think elite QBs don’t look like dumpster fires when they don’t have great talent or coaching around them. But there aren’t many of them.

I think even elite QBs will struggle if the coaching and talent aren’t there, but they won’t look as bad as a journeyman in those situations, for sure. Ricky Ray is a Hall of Fame QB but there were stretches of years when he looked pretty poor as the talent around him dried up and his offensive coordinators made him a dink-and-dunk machine.

I guess what I’m saying is: give Dru Brown a chance to work with someone not named Tommy Condell before writing him off.

I think Dinwddie will do a lot of good for him.

Agree completely but you can still see the talent there.

You might have a point. Dinwiddie seemed to bring Arbuckle to a higher level, so it might work with Brown as well.
