I’m not sure Ford would even be a fit for Milo’s offence. He seems to prefer the pure “pocket passer” type QBs. Hence, Bo and Powell as the number one and two in our QB stable.
I think all that scrambling around that Ford does would give Milo fits.
I agree on Maier. He got a ton of rope in Calgary and obviously didn’t do enough to convince the Stamps to stick with him. Brown, I think, can still be a good starter in the league with the right OC and a decent line in front of him.
He would be a disaster for a team that really needs a solid #1 and a decent back up. If I were a Redblacks fan I would be furious with that move. He is not a quality starter and maybe not even a backup.
Spend the money wisely and improve your team. Unfortunately Burkie has made some terrible moves with big contracts and now their hands are tied.
Edit** This is the time of the year to undo some of those costly mistakes. Burke and his staff must be under the gun to restructure, release and sign some new contracts to bring balance to that team. For the good of the league I hope he can do it.
That’s kind of every QB though, right? Trevor Harris just got his first Grey Cup ring as a starter and he’s played for over half the teams in the league. He’s definitely had times when he looked not great and washed up.
I think even elite QBs will struggle if the coaching and talent aren’t there, but they won’t look as bad as a journeyman in those situations, for sure. Ricky Ray is a Hall of Fame QB but there were stretches of years when he looked pretty poor as the talent around him dried up and his offensive coordinators made him a dink-and-dunk machine.
