They have a few others circling back in Priester, Pickett and Hendrix.

I’ve read this quote from Taylor’s twice now:

“Winnipeg’s not a backup for anything. I have great respect for the culture of that locker room and for what the CFL is,” he recently told 3DownNation. “I’ve said all along throughout the draft process when I was interviewed by teams that my goal is to be a pro quarterback and that’s ultimately what my dream has always been — to make a living playing the game I love. I don’t think of Winnipeg as a backup at all.”

Do you think by saying Winnipeg isn’t a back up plan that he’s saying Winnipeg is not an option for him? CFL is not pro football? Or does he mean NFL is obviously his primary plan, but if he plays in the cfl that somehow that isn’t a backup plan?

It’s natural for an athlete to want to play at the highest level, but he has to realize that the clock is ticking and he has had very little playing time

He’s young enough to bum around for another summer hoping to get an NFL look. My guess is he signs with the Bombers sometime in the fall. From the Winnipeg perspective in that article it sounds like they may have held off on signing an experienced backup in case Elgersma was going to be in camp. Either way I don’t think Elgersma is ready to play meaningful minutes at this stage in his career even if he does join Winnipeg so they need to look after themselves. If Collaros goes down it’s a roll of the dice with any of the other QBs there.

And after that, sadly he will go into permanent concussion protocol watch…

He had his moments. Salut.

He’s one big hit from being forced out of his last season.

He has already taken too many hits to the head and hard contact with the turf imo.

Stay healthy Zack.

Best wishes to him. Still had a couple of years left in him imo, surprised no team gave him a look this year unless he wasn’t interested.

I always liked Dunbar. He sort of reminded me of Bakari Grant. A tall, dependable receiver that was not necessarily the Top Dog but in a half-decent Offence could get you that 1000 yards.

Best wishes to Dunbar and good luck to his future endeavors.

Frankly, a waste of a contract last year.

100% correct . I was excited when we first signed him but then he got injured and then when he was ready to play he was a healthy scratch for pretty much the entire season .

To put a positive spin on it, our Canadian receivers were playing so well he wasn’t needed. He may have come in handy if we had injuries with BOO or Smith.

Reliable 3rd/4th option earlier in his career. Too bad injuries got the better of him at the end of his time in Wpg and here. Seemed like a decent guy and good teammate, wish him well in retirement.

Sometimes you make a signing expecting a player to bounce back but it won’t always work out that way. At the time I don’t think a lot of people were upset when he signed here.
