CFL Discussion Non-Ticat

Always admired him as never shying away from going after the tough catches inside. Also persevered through a lot of injuries after returning from the NFL in 2021. Didn’t expect him to play much in Ottawa but he fought his way back onto their starting roster.
Best wishes Bralon Addison.

It was a shame management could not see his value - yes he was injured and would miss the first part of that 23 season. But he was a heart and soul player, not afraid to make the tough contested catch and could slot in at RB at any time. A team player and I remember him wanting to re-up with the Ticats so bad but they wouldn’t offer him much over 90-95k and I think he wanted like 100-105…. And he forced himself to look elsewhere. Meanwhile our powerhouse American receiver roster that year (besides Tim White) included Anthony Johnson, Shaq Williams, Derel Walker, Terry Godwin, Kai Locksley

It was too bad he couldn’t continue here but I don’t get too upset over player moves any more - we’ve seen it over and over across the league. You are only as good as your last year. From the team’s point of view they knew Addison would miss a substantial chunk of time to start the season so were only willing to bring him in at a certain price. Remember he was injured through large stretches of both 2021 and 2022 so I can understand the hesitancy.

I get it.. it’s a tough call. But the team carried guys in similar injury situations that year like a Chris Van Zehl and Figueroa at substantially more money.

When healthy he was an asset and he probably would have in half a season out produced most of the American receivers the team settled on that year.

Quite possibly. In fairness to those other guys we had either journeyman or rookie qbs most of that year. The team felt slapped together with a lot of random free agents from across the league, kind of a Steinauer last stab at greatness that fell apart with Bo’s early injuries. Didn’t we actually have Duke Williams too?

I’m happy that Addison got his opportunity in Ottawa at least - he actually had his second most productive year last year but he was nothing like the deep threat that we saw in late 2018 and 2019. You never know, maybe some mid-season injuries could coax him out of retirement for a last run somewhere.

Wonder if those 1500 career yards will get him a statue.

Greg Bell expected that he he would be re-signing with the Cats until Ottawa came along with a better deal .
