Free Agency 2026

Are you kidding me? I’m the one saying we should be looking to keep Versus as a starter for the ratio and you’re choosing to nitpick my comment that largely agrees with the point you’re making?

For sure, but as we discussed in the other thread, Sankey could be a DNA sharing snaps with Veresuk if the team wants to maintain that position as Canadian. I think Sankey would be an upgrade on Hill but that’s just my opinion.

I think the problem with that is that the Ticats should then look to pay him like a part-time rotation player if he will be splitting with Veresuk. But there will be several other teams that will be offering him starter money and playing time, IMO.

Plus, the Ticats D already had and has DNA options so it’s not like Sankey is adding anything new to that.

Good point. And the news today that Als LB coach Greg Quick is going to Toronto to be their DC might sway Sankey to the Argos.

Realistically the team wasted Bridges at the other wide receiver spot. You could put Ternowski, Wolitarsky out there and not lose a lot as that spot will only get about 2-3 targets a game. If Bagnah is healthy he can likely rotate along the dline with the other ends. Play Veresuk outside. Sub in Augustine on offence more often. That’s without even considering some Canadian players you could pick up in free agency. Tommy Nield or Brissett at receiver would be good pickups. Schaeffer -Baker or Oliveira would be a long shots and bigger cap hits but both ratio changers.

Could Bridges take Whites spot should the team choose not to pay White?

Definitely a possibility. You lose some speed and versatility there but Bridges had a great rookie year. He just got stuck in the Mike Jones spot.

I have no doubt that he could . He would also only cost a fraction of what White would be paid .

True, but Bridges is coming off his Rookie 70k a year contract. He will want 120-160k depending on the market.

White will probably get between 180 to 240k depending on the market.

So in reality Bridges will be more expensive then his current contract and White will probably be less expensive then his current contract.

So who knows?

The question is who would you rather have

If Bridges wants 160k I’ll pay for White.

I can’t see Bridges being in the 160k range based on his stats last year . My guess is that we could probably land him with around a 100-115k contract tops .

White every single day.

This narrative that he’s a washed up reciever is just silly. Him and Lawler compliment each other.

The real question is whether or not White still sees himself as a bonified #1 reciever. He’s a great #2.

Give it to him, he can catch

He didn’t get the targets Bobo. When you look at his rookie season you see the real Shemar. I think he would be a great signing for us or other teams at a pay rate that would be commensurate with his skills and long term playability.

Exactly ! We have a diamond in the rough with Shemar . Hopefully we don’t let him slip thru our fingers .

According to a source of mine the front office has had good talks with both Tim and Shemar. The only thing is obviously cap space, because we need a lot of guys resigned.

Just like we did with Tyrice Beverette. He was an outstanding special teams player getting spot duty on defence with more reps in his second year. We developed him and then let the future all star walk.

If the Argos are looking to cut Wynton McManis for Sankey I would be surprised.

Most teams are set at MLB.

Ottawa was mentioned for Sankey and they have SANTOS-KNOX.

Hamilton looks like an excellent landing spot for him.

Honestly either Sankey or McManis would suit me fine .
