I’m pretty sure we interviewed a couple of candidates after last season ended, but for whatever reason, they were not a fit.
Until the Cats find the best candidate, the current GM-by-committee strategy doesn’t seem to be hurting us. In fact, based on how well we’ve been signing and improving the team, I think it’s actually working quite well.
Bridges appeared to be playing earlier in the year with an injury, in my opinion . By the season end he seemed to be back as a threat . I like this signing
The Cats have replaced Timmy with a player who is a potential 1000 yard reciever, former All-star, most likely cheaper, 3 years younger and also Canadian.
I think we have done a good job given the circumstances.
I’m interested to see if he’s indeed cheaper when we see the numbers reported by 3DN in the next month or so. He made $210K last year and it wasn’t his best year. But being Canadian does come with a pretty sizable premium in this league. I’m hoping they were able to sneak him in under $200K but with the raises everyone seemed to get this year it wouldn’t shock me if he’s over $222K this year.
Oh totally, the emergence of Kiondre as a legit number 2 and the bargain they have him on meant we were paying White number 1 money to be delegated to a number 3 role. It’s much better spent paying that Canadian premium.
It’s going to be fun to watch Bo slinging it to this deep receiving corps, but the Cats will need better from the front 7 on defense this year if they want to get to that GC game and be victorious.
Hey, next to mixing up ‘then’ and ‘than’, misusing core for corps is my major grammatical pet peeve. But over the years I’ve trained myself to only make corrections in the offseason. Once the season starts, have at it!
Reading some comments that Wheatfall is not a replacement for White. That is fairly obvious.
However, I still think the Cat’s receiving corps improved as an entire unit.
-Bridges likely moves inside, where he’s a better fit.
-Gittens is Canadian, still managed to put up 777 yards on a horrible Elks team, and is only 28 years old.
-Wheatfall looks fast. At the very least, opposing DBs and Safeties will be peaking in his direction. Being a decoy to free up Lawler has value as well.
-Not much needed to say about Lawler and Kiondre. They are money.
Timmy’s individual 1000 yards per season were an asset. However, I think with the quality of the receiving corps as a whole, Bo will find a way to distribute the ball all around. I expect another 5000 yards season for him.
Milton mentioned his background in track specifically triple jump which he shares with Tim White. Sounded like they were leaning to playing him on Lawler’s side. That alone should open a lot of opportunities for him.
