Free Agency 2026

Hopefully Gittens can get back to the form he had when he was with the double blue. When he was with the Argos, he always seemed to play really well against the Cats.

Going out to Edmonton seems to have a negative effect on WRs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. Nice pickup. Most people in here saw this one as a good match entering free agency. Bo gets another target to work with.

Fantastic signing.

Solid player and it gives us ratio flexibility.

I expect him to get back to being very productive with Bo throwing darts to him.

Very happy!

At the start of free agency I would have pegged Ceresna, McManis and a high quality Canadian receiver as very high priorities for the team. All in all the team has done pretty well in addressing some of the needs. They may still sign Bridges back or look at another vet American receiver but offence appears mostly set. Maybe they consider Lanier at DT to see if he can help solidify the middle of the line.

So I guess we won’t be needing a “HEY TICATS, WAKE UP” thread this year. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Joking aside, I actually liked the patient approach the Cats took this year. There were some glaring deficiencies last year, such as MLB. So the Cats weren’t just satisfied with an upgrade, they actually went and got the best MLB in the league. That shows a desire and commitment to building a winning team.

Overall, we can’t be sure yet if every single piece or unit will be elite, but we are definitely trending in the right direction.

Gittens wasn’t bad out west.

Dude caught 85 balls in 2024 and has 1,624 yards and 9 TDs last 2 seasons.

Wow. A bit unexpected after the Gittens signing, but definitely great news.

I think Bridges has way more to show than what the Z-Spot will allow him to do. As Crash pointed out in an earlier thread, Wheatfall will likely move to Z this year. His speed would be an asset there.

Meanwhile, a bigger-bodied Bridges should move to an inside Slot position.

So to recap we’ve now got:

  1. Lawler
  2. Bridges
  3. Smith
  4. Gittens Jr.
  5. Wheatfall

Right now, across the league all opposing Defensive Coordinators are like:

Bridges is a great signing. I could never see the Ticats giving up on a receiver with so much potential. It was strange how it all worked out but I’m glad that it’s finally done.

Well considering that I was lobbying for the team to sign Wheatfall , Gittens and to re-sign Bridges to go along with Lawler and Smith I am over the moon right now that we actually got all three of them . Bo is going to have an absolute blast throwing to this group this season .

We dont hire GM’s LOL

What happens when they go empty formation? Add another receiver. This is the best receiving core Hamilton has had that I can remember.
