NHL 2025-2026 Season

The coaching carousel in the NHL never quits, i’m sure we haven’t heard the last of Laviolette, Tortorella & DeBoer either. Retirement for an old NHL coach only lasts until the next phone call.

Laviolette and DeBoer definitely in Darwin’s Waiting Room. I suspect Sheldon Keefe and Low-Brow from Toronto are now on short leashes. Don’t think Chevldayoff will fire Arniel during the regular season to be sure but Manitoba born (Flin Flon) Evason would be under serious consideration to take over the Flintstone-mobile.

Why Darwin’s?

Not so fast there Nasty-Nate. The “Flinstone” mobile seems to be moving along again with three straight wins.

Who knows, maybe it makes it to the finish line after all.

I think you’re right Tiger. Jets have even reinstated their Stanley Cup parade-planner. The local radio boys who were nearly suicidal a few days ago and now guaranteeing a 1st tier wildcard spot - and even a challenge to Dallas for a first round bye.

Couldn’t think of his brother’s name!

These names and Torts are routinely mentioned in the King’s social media circles. That team has been slowly circling the drain like a partially clogged toilet.

The favourite choice amongst fans is obviously DeBoer but he’s commited to the Olympic program right now. All I know is that none of the fans want to see Jim Hiller around for much longer. Something is not right in that locker room.

It has been interesting with the compressed schedule because of the Olympics. I’m betting some teams that just hang around and make a run at the right time are going to be playoff successes this season.

Whoa are the Rangers bad, seems Shesterkin was the only reason they remained competitive. They’re losing on home ice 6-2, it was 6-0 at one time and were booed off the ice after the first period. This with the Senators having played last night, getting ugly in the big apple, maybe Mike Sullivan should have taken the year off to assess the situation but you know….the phone rang and bingo!

Amazing how fast Miller can turn a team into a dumpster fire hey?

Too bad the Canucks management never realized that as it would have saved them a lot of grief. Horvat left because of Miller, Pettersson has never been the same after his run-ins with him. Miller is a pretty good hockey player but unfortunately a team has to take the total package which includes his personality.

Now we just need JT Miller to destroy Team USA!

Crazy. The same guy that has built the Canadians built the Rangers before that, set them up with skill, speed, and a whack load of draft picks and they wrecked it already…..

The Canucks management is the real problem…..

Yes for sure and also the owner hasn’t helped, i don’t think he has ever gave management the greenlight to go ahead with a rebuild before. I seem to remember that when Trevor Linden was put in charge of hockey operations for Vancouver he suggested a rebuild might be in order and it wasn’t long after he was let go. It was Linden that hired Jim Benning who certainly did his part in the downfall of the Canucks, Rutherford has botched things up as well. I feel for Nuck fans because it could be a long way back to relevance for them , we’ll see.

Nuckleheads and Forest Rangers went down the loo cuz they drafted well - but were unable to screen out the headcases, simpletons & doo-doos infesting their collective rosters.

They have some contracts that are going to be hard to move. Boeser, Pettersson, Kane, Demko come to mind.

Farting around like they have on recent trades will leave then stuck with either a fire sale at the deadline or trying to clear them out before the draft.

Yes, problem with Demko is he’s a pretty good tender but is injured every year and sometimes more than once. There will be Cup contending teams that will be interested in Kane, Sherwood and Garland, think they’ll be stuck with Petterson but then again some team will always be interested, Canucks might have to retain some salary though.

Two years ago the Canucks finished 1st in the Pacific Division, and took the Oilers to 7 games in the 2nd Round of the playoffs.

You don’t just fall off a cliff like that unless there are major problems in that locker room.

The Bowness bump in Columbus is starting nicely. They could ride this into a playoff spot. It’s a talented group if they can keep the puck out of their net.

Meanwhile in Calgary, Dustin Wolf keeps dragging that team towards a playoff spot. He will get little to no consideration for the Hart Trophy but he is that good. Complicates what you do with Rasmus. And if you do sell Rasmus, do you empty the “top shelf” and move Kadri, Huberdeau & Coleman? Clearly the new core supposedly led by Coronato & Zary needs reinforcement. How much of Wolf’s time do you waste?
