Finally focussing on defence?
Yes yes yes but do you think they were not doing that focus all along.
No way were they ignoring him and just suddenly decided 5 minutes ago to talk to him
Iām sure theyāve been talking with everyone they feel they should be talking with - but thereās been an obvious focus or priority on offence.
Kinda sneaks up on you doesnāt it? Here are the D players signed so far.

Perhaps you mean pending FAs? Our Ns seem to be the priority there so far with a couple exceptions.
I think all teams have a lot of guys out there who are just waiting to see if maybe there is some crazy offer out there Come Feb.1 - 8 week. Feb. 9 and 10 are going to be the busiest days of the year for each team. I would think most Riders will come back if the difference isnāt that much.
Seems clear that they are expecting big changes along the D Line. Ray, Rose, Carney and Baldonado all seem like question marks and Johnson has retired.
I mean many of the important defenders have been addressed. Many of the bigger signings if pending free agents have been on offense. The main exception being TCampbell and arguably N lokombo whoās important but not an all star.
Not much has happened on the dline. This list of league wide pending fas has 5 riders.
And possibly the most important is AJ Allen and thereās been zero talk of that.
Thurman was extended but I think was under contract for 2026. Uncertain about Sayles.
Iām confused by the second part of the list you posted. Ar ethosās riders? Iāve only ever heard of Caleb Sanders and Iām pretty sure heās still a rider. The rest are far from significant signing if so.
Iām not complaining about the focus on offense. Just saying letās start tying up our defence.
Thereās a few key guys I really hope thatās the case with. AJ Allen, Carney, Baldonado, CJ Avery (he might be under contract). That still leaves Ray and Rose but I believe in Oāday to find new talent too.
Edit: CJ Reavis!!! How many times am I going to mess that up?!
Sanders has a future and was a pending FA. Sayles is still under contract for the year, as is Milligan. With Lokombo signed that leaves Reavis and Fields. The two we picked up mid season look like players however. Redwine and Sapp lll.
For LBs the only ? is Allen.
For DL, the second part of the list is primarily American free agents with no history in the CFL. The team is clearly covering all the bases and seems willing to let players feel out their value in the tamper window. That doesnāt mean that they arenāt intent on bringing them back. Wonāt be surprised if a few more are signed soon.
As i said earlier, looks like the team is focused on getting the (Nās) signed along with as many key imports as possible. Seems like a sound strategy.
KeeShaun Signed.
Same strategy theyāve used for several seasons now.
Huge signing that Iām very excited about!
Now letās get Allen, Carney and Baldonado tied up!
Our linebackers are #1 and #1 - letās get these guys signed already!
Avery and Allen play the same spot. Allen replaced Avery when CJ got hurt. No way we can afford both. Has been some speculation that both Allen and Nield might be looking to return to Ontario where they grew up. Like I said just speculation.
Excellent re signing!. Fields was a key piece of rhe secondary last year. And at 27 heās got lots of runway ahead of him. Iām super impressed with JODās retention so far.
Great intel. Writing seems to be on the wall with Allen and Carney.
The team really needs to work on the secondaries communication skills and now that they are all back (Reavis?) that should improve. There was far too many breakdowns last season.
CJ Reavis isnāt signed. But we can hope!
In terms of functioning as a cohesive unit the secondary needs the most hours. The LBs are part of that mix. Next would be Oline i would think. The Dline seems to be more task oriented and the easiest group to mix and match. Would be nice to hear from somebody that has a good handle on this.
Okā¦. Baldonado next?
