Not sure what’s going on because Border and Fox are there too.
If Fox was on the field it makes sense that they’re in the back of the endzone ![]()
This Porter Hanger leaves me with a lot more questions than answers. Like they must’ve done some research into whether demand would be there for such a thing given how many other premium options they have around the stadium. They’ve got actual suites, club, sideline terrace, and now the Porter Hanger.
Are they going to be able to sell all of these places consistently?
And if they do sell them consistently how much are they going to be able to add to their revenue?
Are they still going to add field suites on either end in 2027 when they gain 30 feet of space on each side or will they just extend the Hanger out?
Also, the delay in getting a naming sponsorship for the stadium doesn’t help the revenue stream.
It’s not about AND, it’s about OR.
People want social spaces to enjoy the game with friends, not worry about whether or not they can get a seat near their buddy and certainly don’t look at stats and who the backup RT is in the event of an injury.
These social spaces just appeal to a different crowd.
That’s true. But they already had that space in the Stelco North End. They’re replacing it with a space that costs $165 to get into. That to me appeals to the same crowd as does the club or the sideline terrace or the suites.
Yes it went from a GA area to an elevated experience including cover from the elements which people will pay for both in heat and rain. It’s how you generate more revenue from the same space.
Also it must be a ‘Twins’ day promotion at the game when you look at the fans in that section because they all strangely look alike.
But I guess the question is whether the same people who were up there for $25 will be willing to spend an additional $140 to be there in the elevated experience. I don’t think so. I think this is going to be another option for the people that were already potentially spending around that to be in the climate controlled clubs, suites, or in the covered sideline terrace.
Again, they’ve probably done their research and have determined they will come out ahead with this change or they wouldn’t be making it. I’m just curious how much it will actually move the needle.
The people that were spending $25 will have to buy a ticket somewhere else.
You don’t make money on $25 tickets.
defiantley were not that much
Will the “Hanger" impact the surface area of the field?
I asking because if it does, will a traditional Canadain field no longer fit in Hamilton Stadium?
High schools, at least for now, use the traditional field and the stadium is a city facility that is used for high school ball.
Also, I imagine there will no longer be opportunities league wide to have Grey Cup and Vanier Cup games played in the same city on the same weekend.
It looks like he’s “flipping the bird” to the fans. ![]()
I was reading his Wikipedia page… Mrs. Wheatfall must have been a real trooper living in a household with 7 males: a husband and 6 sons!
For the occasional one off event I’m not sure they would re-configure the field regardless. I also don’t think that it should be a dealbreaker in sharing the Vanier and Grey Cups, USports would just use the CFL field as is. Eventually I think high school and universities follow suit with their fields.
More of an issue in that the CFL has moved up the date of the Grey Cup and it just doesn’t work with the university scheduling and getting all the playoff games in beforehand. Either way they haven’t co-ordinated having the games together since 2012 I believe. Not sure it happens again unless USports raises the profile of their teams and players.
With the size of the turf that they have they would never build anything permanent to prevent any future sporting opportunities.
So none of us that are on this Forum will be in that EndZone. ![]()
That’s actually a good sign. That would have been a very competitive environment. I once talked to a European soccer scout who told me that boys raised in a family with a lot of brothers have a higher rate of succeeding. He explained that there’s an inherent competitiveness in them since they always have to scrap for any resources within the family.
This doesn’t indicate any level of talent but definitely a good intangible to have.
