Article states with…

“Bo [Levi Mitchell] signing a two-year [contract extension through 2027] is tough. There were conversations that needed to be had. It seemed the writing was on the wall and I was looking for a fresh start,” Powell told 3DownNation.

Then he goes on to say…..

“I don’t ever like look at, ‘What is Bo doing? What is Cody doing?’ What did they sign?’ All that sort of stuff. If it happens this year, great. If it doesn’t, great. I truly believe in God’s timing,” Powell said.

“God’s timing” ? So the guy in the sky follows CFL activities . He might be busy in the Middle East , Ukraine , Africa … .

I watched the video version of the Powell interview.

He did OK in the interview, but in my opinion if he ever does become a regular starter he’s going to have to learn to relax a bit and loosen up.

He’s the type of guy ( right now anyways) that after a loss will have ZERO patience with any reporter’s questions.

I do believe he needed a fresh start, but there is a chance he doesn’t play any meaningful minutes in Edmonton either for the next couple of years.

Great to have more competition in camp for DT spots. Two solid years of production at the FBS level, hopefully he comes hungry to compete.

Nice to see they brought someone in with size for the middle. Even to rotate in on running situations - it feels like we’ve lacked a big physical presence inside for years. Hope to see him pan out.

It was tough for many EE fans to lose Tre Ford. In my opinion the Tiger-Cats now have the best 1-2 in the league. Ed Hervey was on the evening news here in Edmonton after the free agency signings. He was stating that Taylor Powell can be the future of the EE. I don’t know as we will see him get any significant playing time here this year unless there is an injury or the EE once again get off to a very slow start. If that happens maybe Taylor Powell will get his opportunity. Cody Fajardo is on a 1 year contract.

We’ve lacked Teddy and Micah .

At 6’1” and 313lbs he certainly seems to be the heaviest of the DTs they have brought in so far. Per their pre-draft measurements Woullard is the lightest at 6’4” 272lbs, then Fox at 6’0” 289lbs, then Kendricks at 6’0” 293lbs, then Deen at 6’1” 298lbs.

He is from Bo’s hometown Katy, Texas.

He went where he felt he would have a better chance to play.

Agreed

Powell is awesome.

Never saw a 4 yard pass he wouldn’t throw.

If it is dink and dunk up the field you want. Powell is your man.

That’s about 10 pounds heavier than what Teddy Laurent was during his time here.

Those guys are often the first point of contact at stuffing the run. Hopefully aquiring the leagues best MLB and an improved interior D-Line, opponents will find it hard to run against us.

More OT depth competition for camp. FWIW, NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein had some nice things to say, particularly about his feet and length.

Injury issues? Otherwise send him a contract offer immediately.

I think we’re good at reciever with Smith, Gittens, Middlemost, Ternowski, Bruggeling.

Oline, it is a deeper draft than past years at this position. I think they will grab a developmental guy in the later rounds.

Some good linebackers in this years draft. We need linebackers and Baker is the only one on the roster.

I would say DT could be more of a need than DE. Bagnah, Onyeka, Hubert and a hopefully healthy Brubacher, could hold down a spot.

Defensive back has interesting prospects. Bell could probably start at cornerback as rookie on the fieldside.

DT is certainly a bigger need but I don’t know if the talent is there this year. Konga seems to be getting serious NFL and I think the shine has come off Notice’s apple somewhat with his disappointing pro day.

DB does seem like the strength of this class. I wonder who will be available after the NFL takes their UDFA picks. I feel like Bell will likely be in an NFL camp, but if he’s not then I think you’re right he could start right away.

I’d also say with respect to WR that Smith will be commanding over $300K next off-season so I could certainly see them preparing for that by taking a WR in this draft so he’ll be ready to step up if Smith leaves.
