New RB Micah Bernard
I was worried this would be the highlights of the 2022 Rose Bowl when he had to step in at DB and Jaxon Smith-Njigba torched him for 347 yards and 3 TDs.
Seems to be a much better RB than DB. I especially appreciate his production catching the ball out of the backfield with 3 seasons of 26+ receptions. And 1000 yards rushing in a season in the Big 12 is not easy to do.
You are an encyclopedia of knowledge. I noticed when I looked up his player stats it said one game as a DB.
And now I know the rest of the story!
Good to hear from you Tommy ![]()
Looks like he has a nice little burst through some narrow holes. Looking forward to the battle for starting halfback at camp.
Agreed, with the necessary caveat that it was a highlight reel and thus it is naturally the plays that he made not the ones that he missed. But he displayed very nice patience, vision and finishing. Maybe not the best athlete but seemed to make very nice reads.
With the draft in 9 days we currently sit at 82 by my count:
3 QB, 6 RB, 18 WR, 11 OL, 17 DL, 9 LB (LB group plus Stubb), 15 DBs 1 LS 1 K 1 P
That doesnt include the 8 players we take in the CFL Draft or the 2 in the import which would give us 92 (with including our Yearly Inter QB) heading into rookie camp pending any other signings between now and May 7th/8th
QBs & RBs/FB
Our 18 WR List:
Our 11 OL (+2 Suspended OL)
17 DL
Our LB Group (8+Stubbs)
Our DBs
K/P/LS
Shane Watts and Destin Talbert are listed as Spencer and Dustin.
Thanks for sharing this, good to have the visual

Very prolific tackler in college, seemed to play both S and CB.
Mixed thoughts on that. I’m happy to hear that he is a sound tackler, but I’d prefer a DB that didn’t get targeted enough or completed against to have to make many tackles
Could also be a result of the position he was asked to play. Might have been a Nickel or Star playing closer to the box?
I’m curious about his year away from football.
He was in the NFL from 2022-24 , started some games for the Giants in 22, but was out of any league in 2025.
I wonder if it was just his coming down to earth year where he declined a UFL/CFL opportunity because he thought he was going to get another NFL shot and was just doing tryouts and showcases with nothing to show for it.
This was Gilbert’s NFL draft write up
Interesting stuff in there, Zierlein lists run support in his weaknesses so maybe his tackles do come from giving up catches rather than playing around the box.
At any rate, more often than not our signings don’t even have write-ups (because they’re not rated highly enough) so it’s good to see so many of the DB signings have them.
The fact he hung around the NFL for a few years is a good sign if you go by some previous dbs here like Rico Murray, Richard Leonard, Jumal Rolle etc. Alittle surprised also about the run support comment as he looks to have decent size to be able to take on backs. Surprised he’s only listed at 6’-0" even, looks like he has long arms and seemed to have quite a few pass breakups in college. We shall soon see.
