Well we have some very good pieces left, but we will also be adding some new pieces to the line. They might be good but it will probably take a few games for them to gel.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bo under a bit of pressure for the first few games of the season.
3 of the 5 projected starters were all here last year . Revenberg , Dobson and Barrow . Swartout was also here all of last season although he never dressed for any game time . Finally as someone else mentioned the new center Kolankowski has been a regular on the Bombers line for 3-4 years before coming here . Also all 3 reserves in Szott , Duguay and Hossieni were also all here last year . Add it all up and believe me the O-Line is the least of our worries this year .
Obviously he’s going to play special teams, but the RedBlacks did use him.in a heavy rotation. He didn’t get much time last year, due to Aiden John’s development.
I don’t think it does anything for the Cats because they always have the option to just cut him after 1 year even if they had him signed for 3 years. This is McManis exercising his leverage as an elite defender IMO.
Lost in the obviously much bigger signing today was another American Tackle being added to the mix. Quinn Carroll from the 2025 draft class who just spent 3 years playing RT at Minnesota in the Big Ten after being recruited to Notre Dame as the 7th rated OT out of high school but not finding the starting lineup in 3 years there. He was honorable mention all-conference all three years. He went to rookie mini camp with the Eagles but didn’t end up signing anywhere. The blemishes that bring him up north likely are his T-rex arms at 32 1/4” which are unfortunately disqualifying for a Tackle in the NFL, being a 6th year senior, and not having enough athleticism to make up for those. Certainly an interesting guy to have a look at in camp.
The highest ranked back in the top 20 for this year’s draft is a fullback from Laval, Boutin ranked at #20. So we can’t really count on that, would be better off signing Garand-Gauthier again for blocking and the occasional screen play if the plan was to make full use of Augustine. Agree with you on STE, my guess is he’ll retire.
Augustine was undrafted and STE was a 8th round pick. Pretty sure you can find a halfback anywhere in the draft. Plus each team ranks players differently, you could possibly have a team that has halfback higher on their list.
Last year there were 4 RBs chosen: Isaiah Knight in the 3rd, Keanu Yazbeck in the 4th, Ludovick Choquette ans Joey Zorn in the 6th.
The prior year there were only 3: Chris-Ike in the 2nd, Peterson in the 4th, Herzog in the 6th.
The year prior there were 6 with the first being in the 4th round.
RBs definitely do seem to be available later in the draft, though they also seem to have similar hit rates to those drafted around them, which is to say not much. Making the careers of STE and Augustine all the more impressive.
It seems that The team is keeping any signings news close to the office and not allowing anything to be leaked. If there is no news between now and Tuesday come out just remember stuff will be announced on Tuesday or there after to keep that in mind if there is any signings. Just have a gut feeling that there has to be more signings as i dont think between now and draft this is the final roster heading into the draft.
