Free Agency 2026

I think the take is some team will sign him. Why not us, having him improve our roster around Labour Day.

There was a comment that he may not be ready to play until the fall.

I guess my perspective would be don’t sign a guy if you have low expectations. If he was not a liability he would be signed and put on the IR… somewhere.

Dalton Schoen scored 26 TDs his 1st 2 seasons….pretty good player

Shemar Bridges hasn’t been signed yet. Players hold out, wait for the best offer, etc.

My only point is having an insurance policy isn’t high risk if you plan accordingly. If you pay the market rate for said player sometimes it works out for the better.

I have to wonder if the team made a serious offer to Bridges before releasing White. With White gone, Bridges probably considers himself the #2 receiver just behind Lawler. Quite a strong position to take and possibly why he’s a holding out.

True statement but the problem is that he hasn’t done anything unfortunately since those first two seasons .

Pretty sure that Kiondré Smith would be regarded as #2, plus he has the advantage of being Canadian

Exactly! How much more does he have to prove?

Apart from Bridges, these are some of the more notable American receivers still unsigned around the league:

Schoen

Shawn Bane

Steven Dunbar

Charleston Rambo

Malik Henry

At the right price I wouldn’t be against Schoen, Rambo or Dunbar as a complement to Lawler and Smith. I know Wheatfall has been mentioned but he’s never had a breakout season. You could also squeeze a year out of Devaris Daniels or Addison but more likely that teams will just look to getting younger guys playing time.

At National receiver it’s basically Gittens or bust. That would be a huge signing for Hamilton. Mitch Picton for depth possibly but I don’t see him as a full time starter.

Also a couple of older options at kick returner in Grant and Alford. Again at the right price they would make for good competition in camp on a one year deal.

Given the help we need on D we should be all in on Gittens IMO.

Just a reminder

The CFL window closes Sunday at noon ET on February 8.
Things are pretty much dead right now

On Feb. 8 at noon ET, the negotiation window will close and a Ticat F/A enters into a 48-hour window where he can exclusively talk with the Ticats, who will be aware of any of the formal offers made to him in the previous week. If that F/A Ticat doesn’t have interest in any of the offers he’s received, he can become an official free agent at 12:01 p.m. ET on Feb. 10, free to sign with any team of his choosing.

I was thinking this.. considering that outside of the Mcmanis signing really has not been any big signings. I don’t see any players left signing before Tuesday. I think either players asking too much or teams are low balling players

I think realize that you don’t need to overpay for guys. Gittens is great, but injures and high salary. I think most teams would rather just draft a guy. We say it with Alford and White last year. Especially at field side WR.

I am confident that we will see more than a few signings come Tuesday . Hopefully Bridges is one of them in house and hopefully Gittens from Edmonton . Maybe we even sign a DT or DB as well .
