Kene Onyeka DL from Ottawa.
Absolutely insane money for Greg Bell. Like when Edmonton gave Dunbar $200k. Maybe worse.
Day 1 has wrapped.
However there still seems to be quite a few big-name receivers available.
- Kurleigh Gittens Jr.
- Dominique Rhymes
- Dalton Schoen
- Bralon Addison
- Steven Dunbar Jr.
- Shemar Bridges
- Malik Henry
- DaVaris Daniels
Any interest in one of these guys, or are we pretty much set at receiver?
I think the receiver market isn’t doing what these guys thought. Clearly they’re holding our for more. There’s some talent there but it would appear teams are reeling in WR salaries.
Don’t think he is a starter. Wasn’t last year.
Honestly the only two that I would be interested in on that list would Bridges and/or Gittens .
I’m thinking Bridges flips over to Winnipeg. Cats still need to up their Canadian talent and have to believe they are trying to land Gittens. He and his agent no doubt negotiating hard and some other teams likely interested also.
Overall the team balanced out some of the earlier player changes. At this point the only clear upgrade over 2025 to me is McManis at middle linebacker but at least it doesn’t feel like we’ve been picked apart any more. Sure we’ll see a couple of other signings
Not a starter but will be in the rotation. Good teams have a heavy rotation.
So Lawler same spot
Wheatfall takes over to white
Kiondre same spot..
The two spots at WR that need to be filled is the BOO/Wolitarsky spot which you could say Middlemost will be the back up to that spot so still need a starter there which I could see Gittens jr there if we can sign him.. also bridges WR spot needs to be filled so that’s one Canadian and 1 American unless you go Lawler nationalized player with how long he’s been in the league and go American at that SB and WR spot
If they sign Gittens I’d bet he’s a slot and Wheatfall goes to Z.
Lawler will be the DNA on offense regardless as he’s the only one eligible, but that doesn’t change the ratio. Tim white was DNA all of last year so Lawler just takes that designation over.
The only things that I could imagine that could alter the ratio as it pertains to Canadian WR would be starting Augustine or if they bring in Rohan Jones in the draft and start a Canadian TE.
I was thinking the same thing, but that still leaves White’s spot open.
They could be thinking American rookie in that spot. I’m sure we will have several of those guys in camp, and the Cats have found some pretty good receivers like that over the years.
Good point . That’s exactly how Bridges emerged from the rookie pack after camp and won the job two seasons ago .
Redblacks sign Jake Maier for 1 year.
$200K plus $50K in playtime incentives. Which is apparently the highest paid backup which means we must be paying Ford less than that.
I read on here that Timmeh signed for $220k - about what I would have liked to see here.
A great Frank Langella reference from the movie Draft Day with Kevin Costner . ![]()
Bralon Addison has still got it . He’s not big but he can also run out of the backfield .
Redblacks still busy, sign LB AJ Allen to a 2 year contract.
Bralon was the past not the future . He has also had his injury troubles along the way and because of it I feel he wouldn’t be very reliable or durable to play an entire season for us.
