The megathread is reborn!
pitchforks and torches
Where did we leave off? 3,500 posts?
I’ll start:
Damn this separate sideline rule! Damn it to hell!
Unless I’m misunderstanding the rule, they seem to think making the end zone smaller will somehow increase the amount of touchdowns scored.
Less space in the end zone just seems like it makes it easier for the CB to cover the receiver, and therefore prevent a touchdown and make them less common
Is there something I’m missing with that
NFL has no problem scoring TDs with a 10 yard endzone.
Two things:
Very few passes are attempted to the middle of the end zone because the uprights are in the way. When passes are attempted there they are completed only 24% of the time. Opening up this prime real estate more than offsets the 5 yards taken from the back of the end zone.
Field Goal attempts are now 15 yards longer. When you face 3rd and 3 from the 40 yard line your options are punt to gain very little field position, try a 62 yard FG which seems to have a low probability of success, or go for it on third down. Going more often will extend more drives, and create more chances to score TDs.
I wasn’t thinking about the uprights not being in the way anymore, that’s a good point the usable space will definitely be better than before
10! 10 posts!
Ah-ah-ah!
Oh, too soon?

Indeed, there is something for most everybody on the NEW forum, including those who want to fight more not only for the outgoing old rules, but also the OLD old rules, right here!
And here it is already in just over the first 24 hours folks!
WE WERE NOT CONSULTED!
![]()
Inside joke? At my expense?
i think that new rules petition and goalpost hydrolics guy is here on this forum. that guy was hilarious.
Aye, on the old forum, maybe you had stepped away,
after the new rules were announced in a few new very active threads with often angry comments,
amidst some otherwise constructive and reasonable criticism,
the “I WAS NOT CONSULTED!” rant was one of the more unreasonable and delusional ones.
Of course most agree that there SHOULD be consultation, but that’s seldom been the way of the world and never has been for so many people.
Folks were ranting as if otherwise of course big business or your employer consults with every single employee, let alone politicians with every single constituent, before making big decisions.
Whackjob city!
And so it became a meme and so shall remain.
Ah those goalpost technology ideas, as if physical goalposts are bad?
Who can forget some of the bad ones such as holographic posts and the worst CFL experiment so far that went absolutely disastrously - inflatable goalposts!

After saying good bye to the forums for food and going all over social media saying he’s quit the CFL, he’s here.
I’m not sure who you are referring to, but I did notice a Ticat fan who previously posted a permanent goodbye and then returned in this forum.
I have no problem with that and expected that some sho proclaimed the sky was falling were very emotional at the time and would eventually return to the game. Otherwise they wouldn’t be much of a CFL fan in the first place. Sometimes reason prevails.
Ah, okay, he’s one of THOSE PEOPLE.

I had hoped like many over there that they would be true to their word and JUST GO.
But we damn well know, as you have pointed out, that come June, those effers are coming back!
That’s just how it goes on the other side in the way of the world for some of those who WERE NOT CONSULTED and the like.

“I said I was quitting the forum. I never said I was quitting the new forum!”
