Yes and no. They certainly played well the past two games - Avs and Knights. Previous week losing to the Bruins when they had the lead as well as losing to the Sabres.
Another game tomorrow once again the Sabres - the hottest team in the NHL right now.
I will say, Habs have a young, fast and exciting team.
Oilers are fun to watch too. When I can stay up late
That goalie fight is the funniest thing I have seen this year so far, and yes those announcers were into it and made it better to stoke viewers.
It’s like the announcers also wanted to see this fight and also say something like the following, but they are are work so that they had to hold back a little.
“Oh there goes Bobrovsky down the ice after Nedeljkovic. Oh yeah, look at him go, he’s been roasting that beef for a while now!”
Good young teams are inconsistent like that though. They have a ton of enthusiasm though, which is way better than say - well, you know.
Blows my mind Treliving somehow believes they will suddenly rise up and make the playoffs though. Maybe the Canucks game will change his mind….
They can be, they can also make you pull your hair out like last night…
I’m about 70-30 on the GM. On the good side, he added some good young kids and picked up some draft picks, and has been giving some kids from Bakersfield a look. On the other he added some questionable middle six guys and that Skinner trade was something I didn’t understand. Kulak was too good a piece to give up, and Ingram has been better then Jarry.
….then again we have a goaltender in the AHL who moved up because of stellar play. Ungar is 6-1 with a 1.7 GAA in the AHL.
Treliving will leave the Maple Leaves exactly how he left the Flames, in a whole lot of trouble, with nowhere to go but up. The trade he made with the Bruins is looking like a disaster and will only get worse if Boston ends up with a high 1st round pick.
This is exactly what I was telling my Leaf buddies after they hired Treliving. They wanted Dubas gone and were excited when Treliving was hired as new GM.
Yet, Treliving left the Flames a mess. So why would Leaf fans think he would do any better in Toronto? Now as expected, the Leafs are even worse.
I think he followed the owners wishes in Calgary. The evidence of the owners meddling has showed for a long time and leaving him stuck with the whole Sutter thing was sh#tty at best. I wouldn’t blame him for a little revenge.
The Leafs problems now are that usually there is a front office, Pelly, is saving money without them now and has left Treliving alone with no president or anyone to talk things over with, and no time to get deals done before the deadline.
Yep, a lot of TO’s problems lie at the feet of Shanahan who believed in the “core four” until the end which ultimately lead to his undoing. Dubas was no help either giving them all what the wanted in contract negotiations including NMC’s and leading them all to UFA, meaning the Leafs had no control over these players. They’re basically hooped because unless Matthews and Nylander agree to be traded they will both leave if they want and TO will get nothing in return. Treliving could decide they are part of the solution but i think the proof is in the pudding….they aren’t.
No, i doubt anyone thought the Bruins would be doing so well but their GM helped the process by biting the bullet and making some tough trades. He trade three long time players when he recognized their season was going south, hard to do with three loyal soldiers but he did it. The same thing has to happen in TO but does Treliving have the guts or does he need to get the green light from upper management to start the retool, which if he does then he’s just a puppet, much like the GM in Vancouver, Rutherford calls the shots and it isn’t helping. As you said TO needs direction, the question now becomes who’s providing it.
Habs players and staff have been advised to not leave their hotel and to keep their passports with them at all times while travelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota https://t.co/oAzuSPF6yb
