This is a vicicous slash!

Evgeni Malkin received a 5 minute major for this slash and a 10 minute misconduct.

Do you think he should receive any supplemental discipline?

Malkin , 39, is a repeat offender with two prior suspensions. He was suspended for one game in 2009 and received a four-game ban in 2022

yea Malkin is a hothead

Agreed
His storied history

  • 2022 (4 Games): Suspended four games for a “violent” cross-check to the face of Nashville’s Mark Borowiecki.
  • 2019 (1 Game): Suspended one game for an “intentional stick swing” at Philadelphia’s Michael Raffl.
  • 2025 (Fine): Fined $5,000 for slashing Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley.
  • Other Fines: He has been fined on at least five separate occasions, including for spearing in 2018.
There was also the Willie Mitchell hit from behind that he wasdn’t suspended for in 2010

Also the hit from behind that he wasn’t suspended for

On January 16, 2010, Evgeni Malkin delivered a hit from behind on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Willie Mitchell, which resulted in a season-ending concussion for Mitchell. The hit occurred when Mitchell was crushed into the boards in Pittsburgh, causing him to suffer from concussion symptoms, including headaches and sensitivity to light and noise for a long period.
Following the hit and the NHL’s decision not to suspend or fine Malkin, Mitchell was highly critical of the league and its disciplinarian at the time, Colin Campbell

Man, this stuff just pisses me off

‘Just not fair’ for wife to take blowback for White House visit: Connor Hellebuyck | CBC News

First, hands off players family. Damn idiots

Second, screw the sour grapes because a player played for the team that beat Canada.

Third, dont be so quick to condemn those who went to the whitehouse. They are usa citizens. It is not about trump but about the honor of going to the white at the presidents invite (regardless who it is). Not their fault it happen to be trump. Condeming them for laughing at trumps ill advised attempt at humor is uncalled for. I expect some just got caught up in the moment and others may have just nervously laughed because they didnt know what else to do.

I know that if some of my fav Russian players of the past had been invited to the russian presidents place after winning something over team Canada, I would not have been critical.

Dont blame athletes for being loyal to their country just because their leaders are scum.

I may be misremembering but wasn’t there a Stanley Cup winning team that refused to visit the White House? Maybe during Trump’s first term or when Obama was in charge?

Or maybe I’m just thinking of Tim Thomas.

I think so. Probably wasnt many usa citizens on the team. Different scenario I think.

That was in 2012. Thomas refused to go to the White House to meet Obama.

Should have been way more than 5 games, that was brutal. If it was a 4th line plug he would have gotten 10 or more games, bs, shouldn’t matter if you’re a superstar, star or grinder, same punishment, DOPS is a joke.

McKinnons fault
or Nurse’s fault?
Was a 5 min. major and ejection for McKinnon.

Nurse hit him from behind and the momentum pushed him through to the goalie . Totally accidental and unavoidable by McKinnon in my books and no penalty should’ve been called on the play .

2 minutes at the worst but as you say it wasn’t Nates fault, Ingram’s injury caused the refs overreaction .

the way I see it, McKinnon was not going to avoid hitting the goalie regardless of Nurse. It is up to McK not to take that path towards the goalie in the first place.

The overhead angle shows that McKinnon would have skated in front of the goalie, possibly slightly grazing him. A typical harmless hockey play.

Nurse’s hit deflected McKinnon into the goalie, which resulted in a larger, heavier impact.

I think he might have done more than just graze him, but in any case, it is up to the skater to not skate the path that he did.

I guess you’ve never heard of crashing the net then ? McKinnon is a big body, if not for Nurse pushing him from behind and giving him momentum then the play would’ve been fine . Basically if the goalie got injured on that play then he can basically thank his own player for causing it .
