The deal will make him one of the league’s highest-paid offensive linemen at $220,000 in hard money.
That’s huge! Would’ve liked to see them get a second year onto that to prevent use having to feel like this next off-season, but still great to see!
That’s a lot coming off a rookie deal
I’m not suggesting anything, and I actually agree with you.
Similarly to what the poster I was responding to wrote, I was only surmising that Powell might have told management that he wants to try his luck elsewhere if he wants meaningful playtime.
Reason for the speculation is that at this point they have signed the 3rd and 4th string QBs for next season but not Powell.
Maybe the Cats and Powell are just taking a bit longer to iron out his new deal? ![]()
Personally I like what I’ve seen of Powell and hope he stays with the Cats.
That site is either behind a paywall or needs you to sign up to see that content. A link won’t work in that case but perhaps a screenshot for those that can’t see it?
Gotta admit, Ouellette sounds pretty tempting. The guy is a beast and it would be pretty cool seeing Thor swing that hammer in “The Hammer”. For us, not against us. ![]()
Got to have the Oline continuity. That’s one, hoping they resign one more from the group that’s still ticketed to hit free agency.
True but he is well regarded and will only get better. I don’t think offensive tackle is a position you want to cheap out on.
I’m sure he would love to swing the Hammer and anvil that Forge has
Just saw the thank you to Tim White on Instagram (hence my post). I know you don’t win championships on vibes - but I always held my breath a little when White was targeted or tried to gain YAC. Great stats, but not a clutch guy (judged admittedly on the high standards of Fantuz and Tasker). We have depth at receiver - so I’d rather see money invested in the D and the O Line (re-signing Barrow is a solid move).
Also - huge shout out to GG and the other folks who got this site up and running! We’d be lost without them!
So if Barrow go 220k and is so called one of the highest paid OL I wonder what rev is making then as he’s making the same amount as Dobson
Here is his tribute video posted today.
I had to laugh during the highlight package when Tim bobbled the touchdown pass. That’s fair!
Best of luck to you Tim.
I think Dobson was around the 260k mark last year so Rev is probably close. For an American, Barrow is making really good money and might have made more if he was protecting Bo’s blindside. They may switch him to the left side this year depending on what happens with Bordner. Not sure they will pay Murray or Woodmansey big bucks with 3 big salaries in that group now already.
Thanks for the memories Tim. Save your best for the Riders.
9) Liam Dobson, Hamilton Tiger-Cats (N)
Hard money: $205,000
Maximum value: $214,000
The 27-year-old native of Ottawa, Ont. was named All-West Division last season and parlayed that success into a big-money free-agent deal in Steeltown, receiving a $35,300 signing bonus to join the Tiger-Cats. The former first-round draft pick will earn $145,000 in base salary, $14,700 in housing money, $10,000 in marketing money, plus $12,000 in playtime, all-star, and awards incentives.
5) Brandon Revenberg, Hamilton Tiger-Cats (N)
Hard money: $210,500
Maximum value: $221,000
The 32-year-old native of Essex, Ont. received a $25,000 offseason roster bonus on Feb. 1 and will earn another $162,700 in base salary, $13,800 in housing money, and $9,000 in marketing money this year. Revenberg will also earn $250 each time he plays more than half of Hamilton’s offensive snaps in a game and another $6,000 in potential all-star and awards incentives. The six-foot-four, 300-pound blocker is a four-time All-CFL selection and five-time All-East Division selection at guard.
Dobson was 9th last year at around $205K. Hardrick was the highest paid American at around $215K
Thanks. Did a quick search on 3Down but didn’t find last year’s salary rundowns. Maybe I was thinking of Drew Desjarlais
Thank you for posting this Egbert.
I really like Bell but those pass blocking stats are an eye-opener.
I think at this stage in Bo’s career, and for the sake of the franchise, we need to keep Bo healthy so he can perform at a high level. That includes having a solid O-Line, but additional elite-level blocking from our Running Backs would also be highly beneficial as well.
It all comes down to price though. Ouellette probably would not come cheap.
we have a RB signed in Roundtree who was a NFL draft pick. He is the heir apparent.
